  1. I have no idea why, but it popped in to my head this morning that I used to watch music demos on my 486 PC which, at the time, pushed the boundaries of what a computer was capable of with the graphics. The chess set at the end of this one was mind blowing at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFv7mHTf0nA Jesus on E's on the Amiga was alwasys a favourite too. Anyone else, or just me being sad........ Stuart
  2. Run a constant ping to the printer and see if it drops off at all? I had a similar sounding issue with my Sharp MFDs and it turned out that the port on the device was configured for 100mb rather than auto. Why this would cause drop off issues I have no idea, but it did and as soon as I changed it to Auto the connection problems went away.
  3. I have generally found that if you assign trollies to specific departments only, they get looked after much better. Particularly if you tell the departments that as it is 'their' trolley, their budget will be billed for any repairs.
  4. Found another ridiculous cost today with our finger print top up machine! We've just paid a fortune to have it upgraded to accept new fivers and pound coins, which as far as I'm concerned should be in the annual fee but that's another story. We spoke to them today to ask if it will carry on accepting the old fivers once they aren't legal tender anymore. Guess what?! It will! And it's £100 and then £30 per half hour to get someone to come and make it so that it doesn't. You do that for the fivers, pound coins, and upcoming tenners and twenties, that's quite a chunk of money on top again! Grrr....... They've got you over a barrel and know it as far as I can see.
  5. Sorry - bit of a Minecraft newbie here. What do I download and where do I put it? All I can see is a server download, but I thought this was to join mc.edugeek.net, not setup another server? Thank you Stuart
  6. I watched "The Negotiator" for the first time in ages. Love it......
  7. My sister did her first bungee jump a couple of weeks ago. The guy who did it after her ended up with a broken arm.
  8. Sorry, probably should have put on this that I've sorted it. I needed the LA to put the certificate in the right place too. Thanks for your reply though. Stuart
  9. So I'm not getting very far! As far as I can tell, the Search-Mailbox was brought in on 2010 SP1. My Exchange server is 2010 with no service Packs (I know I said I've done it before, but that was in my previous school!). I realise this is a problem and that is an ongoing issue I have too where no SPs will apply, but it does leave me a little stuck. Am I right that I can't "Search-Mailbox". Everything I'm finding on Technet talks about 2010 SP2 and SP3. Also, the picture sent wasn't an attachment, it was pasted in to the body of the email. I was hoping to just search for his alias and a blank subject and delete all those emails. Anyone got any other ideas please? Stuart
  10. Hi all, I'm after a little help. We've always trusted our students here with email, but had the trust abused the other day. A student sent around a picture to all our other students which now needs removing from all mailboxes. I have done this in the past myself by simply searching for the subject. He didn't put a subject..... I've done a lot of Googling and can find masses of results based on the subject, but am struggling to find anything useful for a blank subject. Obviously I can't just delete all emails with no subject as there will be necessary emails that fall in to this. I'm also after how to search everyone's sent items for this email to see if it's been forwarded on at all. Any help gratefully received. Stuart
  11. Wasn't sure which forum to put this on, so feel free to move it if appropriate; We had a wildcard certificate which expired a couple of days ago. I didn't realise until it did. I have bought a new wildcard certificate, apparently installed in on the server, but things are still complaining that the certificate has expired. What am I likely to have missed please? I want it on my exchange server and my HAP+ server. If you go in to IIS on either server, and look at "Server Certificates", it's there. If you run the certificates MMC on either server it appears under Personal, as the old one did. At the moment if I try and get to either then it tells me the certificate has expired. If I delete the old one, then it says there isn't a certificate. If it can see I'm doing something with the old certificate, why doesn't it see the new one in the same place? Any help gratefully received. Thank you Stuart
  12. Hiya, Does anyone know from a technical point of view what happens with Impero if the licence expires on the server? Does the functionality remain for a grace period or does it stop working immediately? Thank you Stuart
  13. We have a number of staff email accounts added via the "Open these additional mailboxes" screen, not extra Email accounts. How do I get the Junk rules to apply to them please? If they were extra mailboxes, then it's easy. Thank you Stuart
  14. Morning, I've heard rumour of a contribution the school can receive of up to £2,500 towards the costs of getting a leased line installed. Does anyone know anything about it please? Thank you Stuart
  15. What with this and Robot Wars that day too, could be a good night of telly!
  16. Seems OK for me; Windows 10, Latest Chrome.
  17. Small seaside town in Norfolk of Happisburgh - pronounced Haysborough And of course GIF which we all mis-pronounce apparently.........
  18. Hae you Googled the first three parts of the MAC address to see the manufacturer? Might give you a clue as to whether it's an iPhone being a hotspot, an AP, or whatever.
  19. It's done individually on each printer, on the "Filters & Restrictions" tab. There's a section called "Maximum cost".
  20. This is irrelevant if there is a limit per print job in place. If our kids have £1 of credit and try to print something which costs 50p, they can't as they can only print 30p at a time so they have to break it in to two print jobs.
  21. I don't think it will be this, but the only thing I can think of is that they are trying to copy something which will cost them 50p, and they are only allowed to do jobs which cost 30p or less or something?
  22. What security reasons as perhaps I don't want to be either!
