Is it really? I bought a 6-core AMD mini PC for home and put W11 on it from the off. It's not only very fast, it's been rock stable since I started using it, and I do a lot of remote admin and Teams work on it. I know it's not an enterprise installation so I ask in all seriousness.

Seconded for the AJTek maintenance software if you don't want the server to grow in size until it eats all of the available space.

Yes, you can save it with the redactions all marked in so that the staff involved (and sometimes lawyers) can collaborate. We have a SAR Team for that so that we have a single safe repository. You only finalise the document and 'sanitise' it of all meta-data in the final stage before sending it off.

Yes, we have these two GPO policies set: Convert synced team site files to online-only files: Enabled Use OneDrive Files On-Demand: Enabled Also, this is handy: Silently sign in users to the OneDrive sync app with their Windows credentials: Enabled ...in Computer Configuration / Policies / Administrative Templates / OneDrive

We're fully OneDrive (and Teams/SharePoint) and the teething problems with earlier version of OneDrive have gone away. Sync times are acceptable and we reset to Files-on-Demand on each login so that no workstation has too many files cached locally.

The differences are mostly under the surface, Windows 11 is much more secure and makes better use of hardware security such as TPM, CPU features, virtualisation for core isolation, secure boot etc. In my opinion, it's also faster than W10 on the same hardware.

Last year we switched to Edval (it was the timetabler's decision without reference to digital strategy). It was a huge disaster as Edval couldn't or wouldn't understand our bi-weekly tiered timetables. Possibly co-incidentally, possibly not, the timetabler has now left. This year we are back on NT6 and all is well again with our 2022/23 timetable well in the advanced planning stage. A lesson in what happens when a member of staff goes rogue without reference to others.

We're using LastPass for our IT team and it's excellent. There are Android and iOS apps too, which helps when needing a password while roaming around.

It used to be that I would conduct a keyword search, output the results to a single PST and print the whole lot to PDF for redaction. Now that Microsoft Purview has replaced Compliance, they seem to have made it a lot harder. The single PST contains top level mailbox names with sublevels of folders and message content. I can't find any way of printing this lot to a single PDF. Does anyone have any experience of this new system and how did you overcome the output format and redaction stages?

No, I don't believe there are any limits. If they do impose them sometime down the line, then fair enough as the incrementals will keep building up. Search and restore speeds are impressive.

No - that's for the cloud-to-cloud package which is the only part we use. If you have fewer staff you can pretty much pro-rata it. We use CT to backup our VMs.

Latest invoice in April cost just over £6k annual for 330 staff (students aren't counted).

It caused our Apple and Android clients to ask for cert approval again. No biggie, once approved (and trusted in iPads), it works just fine. No other side effects noticed in all 3 DCs.
