We just upgraded to a new S9 appliance yesterday (from an old UTM1000). Now the Load Average is sitting at around 1.2 and page responses are lightning fast.

We've been applying the Feb updates with no issues so far, and I've just applied the Jan updates (with modified KBs) to our DCs with no issues.

We're getting our new Mitel system with Teams telephony installed in July so I'm interested in exactly how these issues will work. As we'll be continuing with a mix of traditional handsets and Teams connectivity, our extension numbers will continue as-is, which will re-route when we're working from home.

Having used the Barracuda O365 Cloud-to-Cloud product in anger, in order to find an old leaver's file from OneDrive or a Team accidentally deleted from over 90 days ago, I can attest to its reliability and ease of use for fine-grained recovery. It works and, when I was researching C2C backup, it was the least expensive solution.

On the other hand, if you're that concerned with the processing of your data there's always the personal choice NOT to use Facebook et al.

Facebook gets a kicking from many people, mostly because of the narcissistic tendencies of a small group of tiresome wannabies. However, it has useful groups and clubs which I would miss as that's how we organise events and meet-ups. Instagram and Twitter? Those I will never use.

Subtitles are always better (though Prime have an annoying habit of joining words together).

Classroom usage is different from Office usage. The teacher is often standing up, for a start. Many of ours have the touch panel on duplicate and use it rather than the computer screen, so DSE is moot. Our office staff using Surfaces all have at least one external monitor.

Check your System logs to see if you're getting NIC drops. This happened to us and caused high load averages necessitating lots of web proxy restarts. The culprit was a bad Linux NIC driver causing it. Smoothwall had to dig in and patch our S8 appliance. Our load average is currently 2.7.

Empty threats. Watch Meta miraculously find a way to separate out the data between the US and Europe if they're pushed to the brink.

I use my Surface Dock 2 every day with my Surface 7 i7 and twin 24" monitors in extended 3-screen mode and it's pretty reliable using proper USB-C to HDMI cables (good cables are a must - I've had bad cheap ones). Just very occasionally one screen doesn't come on after waking from sleep, but never when initially docked.

The Surface Dock is best and has two USB-C monitor outputs. It'll keep the Surface charged, too. Oh, and magnetic coupling for less wear in use than a USB connector.

We use VEEAM for backing up 40 VMs running Server 2012 R2 up to Server 2019 under VMware 6.7. It goes: VMs backed up to local VEEAM server, Nightly copy backup to QNAP in Junior School (across the premises), 2nd nightly copy backup to CT cloud service (with air-gap included), 3rd weekly copy backup to 12TB disk caddies kept in our cars. After an attack in 2021 we're not taking any chances any more.

I've been watching another Swedish-noir called Gasmammam on Prime. It translates as Mother Goose and centres around a mother who gets drawn into drug smuggling and gang wars while constantly trying to protect her children. Really good characterisation and superb ensemble acting starring Alexandra Rapaport. By the end of S3 it's become breathless and edge-of-seat. The best Scandi drama since The Bridge.

Hah, hah, everyone gets caught out by that! It's actually a BRZ with a few additions (Harrop supercharger being the main one).

If your car has an amplified aerial (mine does), you need to feed power into the aerial co-ax cable (there is a flylead) which I had to do manually as the harness didn't do it as standard. Radio now works fine.
