I would say our migration to Office 365 (including e-mail) went very well considering, but it still couldn't be characterised as pain-free. There's a considerable amount of training, hand-holding and repeating of things involved.

That's a bit of a silly statement. I'm all for simplification but legacy is legacy and somehow all of these functions would have to be replicated elsewhere. We *are* tied in and it *will* be a hell of a job to detatch from, but it doesn't mean for one moment that I won't take the chance if I can. Don't underestimate the pain, though. I simply don't believe comments about pain-free migration. Never in all my years have I known such a thing in a school with Teachers involved

I'm not sure I agree. Many schools, such as us, are heavily entrenched in SIMS, like it or not. Migration away to a different MIS would involve a considerable amount of pain and upheaval. We have 12 sync-connected systems pulling data from SIMS, alone. If ESS are able to implement gradual, painless, migration, then it is an option we have to take seriously.

I'm planning on rotating all our non-compliant machines in the 3-4 year window available before W10 is EOL.

Apparently the Update Assistant is wise to the registry hacks and won't comply. The full ISO should allow it, but you must have at least TPM 1.2.

We have a similar problem with our Surfaces not connecting to our Ruckus running WiFi 6. We have had to create a downgraded SSID running WiFi 4 to get them to work. No research has yet uncovered how to fix it and we've done things like downgraded the driver settings, rolled back the Intel AX201 driver etc.

I got Windows 11 setup on a new machine at home. It's very nice and slick once you get over the jarring from things not being where you are used to finding them. It is notably swift in getting things done and loves my Ryzen 6-core CPU, especially when you run the Quick CPU optimiser to prevent core parking. No problems at all installing Office 365 and an older version of Adobe Photoshop Elements from the new store. Now I realise that's different from supporting a fleet of them at work, but there's nothing like getting ahead of the game and becoming familiar with it.

Me too, I'll retire in 2024 so migrating the last of the W10 machines will be someone else's problem!

InTouch is horribly slow and its graphic design is by the Ladybird people.

I wouldn't rush until a few other people have tried it first!

W10 Edu 21H1 with O365 is pretty stable these days and runs smoothly on our 600 workstations.

Do you have a transparent proxy setup with no filtering policy?

They do have that, but our teachers use OneNote interactively which saves their work as they go. We are running up to 7.5m HDMI cables directly as wall boxes are problematic. USB cables that long are in-line amplified ones. They are all wi-fi connected so have that module and native AirPlay is used the most for mirroring.

We've been installing Iiyama TE8604MIS and TE7504MIS touchscreens this year (17 of them) and I can highly recommend them. As well as HDMI with USB for full 4K touch functionality, they support AirPlay and Chromecast for device mirroring, as well as Screenshare Pro, which is used a lot by teachers now.

I've got two 24" monitors on my Surface Dock 2 for a total of three screens, which works well. Not many portable devices will support four screens.
