  1. Ok, thanks. Did you have to make any adjustment to your Google Drive settings, other than at the time of trying to add the storage to a Team?
  2. Has anyone had any success adding Google Drive cloud storage to a Team? I can get as far as choosing the Google account and then I get the wheel of doom forever. It doesn't seem to be a network/firewall thing, either, as it won't work at home.
  3. My v79 updated to v80 this morning.
  4. Surface Pro i7 with dock.
  5. Because sleep and hybrid sleep are problematic on many machines, not waking them up properly. Secondly, because I want every machine to have one power cycle every night in order to install Windows updates.
  6. That won't work if you're uploading reports to the Document Store for use in, say, the School Gateway app.
  7. As far as I know you have always had to do it through Nova-T6. Go to Classes and set the tick box at top-right to Wide Cells. Now you can see (and amend) the teacher in charge, shown in bold to the right of the Class name. Then re-export.
  8. I would say lack of stability is a host thing, not endemic to Windows Server or Hyper-V. We run Dell R730 servers and keep the BIOS and all firmware completely up to date (Dell offer a bootable Linux CD to automate this). Our disk RAIDs are all RAID 10 server level drives and they've been running 24/7/365 for a number of years. Windows Server is updated once a month. We move our Gen2 VMs around and all VMs have a replica on another host. We have VMs of various versions of Windows and Ubuntu. It all runs smoothly and reliably.
  9. It shuts the machines down at 22:00 precisely, giving a warning to any user logged in about a minute beforehand to allow them to save their work (which with O365 happens regularly anyway). These are the computer suites and classroom computers.
  10. Yes, just for the OUs of the classroom and suite PCs. Otherwise it would annoy, say, teachers working late at night
  11. Group Policy to shut them all down at 22:00 when all but the senior students have gone to bed. BIOS set to wake them up at 07:00. This ensures that they apply their updates daily.
  12. Presumably that excludes independent schools. The sample size seems remarkably small.
  13. You can get them on eBay, but be sure to buy all you need as different vendors make ones that are not compatible.
  14. I far prefer the Edge UI so I hope they don't spoil it.
  15. Adieu Windows 7. I don't look back, only forward. Windows 10 is, in every way that I can think of, superior. Onwards and upwards!
  16. I never reset the counters, just forward a termly report giving usage by department going back to the first date of term.
  17. Lenovo E490 here for staff. There are desktops in the classrooms, too. I'm contemplating replacing the desktops with docks.
  18. Our displays are running on W10 (Intel Compute Stick plugged into the HDMI port of large TVs).
  19. Yep, the SOLUS update came through just now. Installed fine.
  20. Thanks. I've just used this in an advisory to all staff. You can never tell them too often.
  21. Group Policy: Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > OneDrive > Silently move Windows known folders to OneDrive
  22. I've used the WSUS Server Maintenance script by AJTek for a while now, it's excellent for keeping your WSUS server trim and not bloating to use up all your storage space. You get a nice daily report by e-mail, too. No instabilities here. https://www.ajtek.ca/wsus/how-to-setup-manage-and-maintain-wsus-part-8-wsus-server-maintenance/
  23. They may need networking but not internet. A fake proxy or removal of internet gateway authentication (we use Smoothwall) should do it.
  24. Insight for big things and consumables. eBay for parts. We do our own installations but we use DM Systems for consultancy on tricky stuff like AD FS and Azure.
