About Joko

  1. I've managed to fix the powershell scripts etc, and all the data is going into Sharepoint lists. For some reason when i run the app, it says my name at the top but then everything else is blank. Has anyone ran into this before? I have given myself an isAdmin on the permissions list. Thanks!
  2. Hi there, Would anyone who uses Cisco Umbrella like to share which partner they used? I don't know if it's all this WFH but my googlefu is failing me. Thanks
  3. This is one of the main reasons we are looking to move away from SW this year. Their support is so, so slow. If they can't keep up with Cloud filtering demand, i don't think they should be spamming the 3 month trial out as much.
  4. Thanks for taking your time doing this. I haven't thought about splitting the costs and having seperate filtering & Firewall. Has anyone else done this? I wonder how cost effective that would be. Thanks again!
  5. Morning, Our renewal is due with Smoothwall next year and i have been asked to propose some alternatives from higher up, and i wouldn't mind looking myself as we have had some issues with support delays. Smoothwall was put in before my employment and it seems that it's used for pretty much everything but the safeguarding alerting side as we use Impero for that. Has anyone moved away from Smoothwall recently or are planning to move away? We would need full Firewall/Filtering solution to replace like for like. I have done some searches on here and seen some threads about Securly, Sophos XG. However, i believe Securly is just web filtering? Also, i know Cisco Umbrella is being used by the DfE. Any recommendations? Thanks.
  6. I have been handed a rather odd issue by SLT and would like to know your thoughts on this as i need abit of a sanity check. We have all new Aruba Wi-Fi instant in school and currently the only people that can connect are Sixth Form students and Staff via BYOD. We have some windows tablets that can't be domain joined and i have been asked to get them on the Wi-Fi, so students can access the internet. My main priority is that when students are on the internet, Smoothwall can authenticate their usernames. I have tried to set MAC filtering up on the Aruba. However, this somewhat does work but it passes the MAC address through to my Radius (windows) server. Which i can only assume will not play well with our Smoothwall as it's passing in the MAC address rather than a username. I was then thinking to just have a WPA2 password and then instantly have it re-direct to smoothwalls login authentication page - however, worried that there will not really be any time out on this, so the previous student may still be logged in when student B connects the lesson after. I could try EAP-TLS with a cert on the device - but i will still have the problem with bullet point 2. I could allow students access to BYOD and have it set to 802.1x - but the clever students will know a VPN will bypass our smoothwall. Any ideas? Thanks.
  7. Argh, that could work. I have just spoken to support and apparently actually removing them as a policy is not supported yet and asked me to log my request. Shame really as i know this could be a kicker for the school to decide these or a more expensive Windows device.
  8. Hi there, Just looking at testing Chromebooks out for students, although we're a Microsoft house. So i am looking to see if its possible to get rid of all the Google icons from the shelf automatically through the admin side. Has anyone managed to do this? Thanks.
  9. Afternoon, I have been researching the method of adding all classes from SIMS to GClassroom so all students and teachers are added automatically. I have found few scripts online that involve importing reports to SIMS and running this report through GAM. Is this how you do it? Also, we already have all users, already syncing with AD so i don't need this feature. I just need SIMS to link to the existing users within Classroom. Any tips would be super. Thanks.
  10. Afternoon, I am looking at starting an eSports / Games club at school. One of the games is MC Education. We have installed the trial, all runs well although i'd like to have our own server. Does anyone currently do this? I know a player can host a world, but i'm assuming a staff person would have to have a license too and people connect to that staffs account? Thanks.
  11. How do you control what PC the students connect too? I'm worried they could potentially view a staffs computer in a different room. Do you have all the passwords the same or have staff set their own passwords on a weekly basis? Thanks.
  12. Afternoon all, I have been asked to roll out VNC so a few visually impared students can use iPads to see the teachers machine. I am thinking, Ultra VNC is the way to go. I'm struggling on foreseeing how i roll this out. Group Policy the server version to every PC Do i create a config file to push on install with a generic password for all machines? How does the student view the machines, on the viewer app. Does it show all the machines hostnames automatically and the students just pick the room? How do you do it? Thanks
  13. Edit: Managed to get this working. Additionally, Is it possible i can get hap working as the default web site rather than going to /hap ? I will be using an A record so dont want hap.domain.com/hap Thanks!
  14. Yeah, looks at it, i would have to resubnet the schools since they're using the same subnets! I may use this just for maintenance instead. Thanks for the reply!
