Thanks, both. I found the policy called DisallowCalling but can only apply it to 20 students at a time. There is no ability to filter by an AD group, either. I don't have time to learn the Powershell incantation for this so am steadily ticking and clicking...

Does anyone know how to disable Skype for just Class Teams? We're finding that students are playing up and calling each other via the Team during lessons.

I'm not sure as we use Exclaimer in our locally hosted Exchange so there is no re-routing.

I used the DKIM Manager to generate the output after selecting the certificate to use (I had to generate a new one today as we have just renewed our certificate). It also performs a range of tests including full verification after generating an address for you to send a test message to.

This is a screenshot of our external DNS entry for both DMARC and DKIM (much of it obscured, but you get the idea). If you're creating the DKIM on an Exchange server, I strongly recommend purchasing the DKIM Manager for IIS SMTP and Exchange Server. It makes things a lot easier.

I rolled out AD FS, O365, Teams, Forms, OneNote etc. over the summer. We're still training and I've left access to Google Classroom for those who want it. Take-up of Teams has been amazing with almost 200 Teams now created. Those who were using Google Classroom, Firefly or the outdated Smart Notes have moved over to the Microsoft tools. Joined up integration is one of the well-liked characteristics of the Microsoft offering, single sign-on, as well as almost infinite storage (ok, 14PB) and access to virtually everything from home or elsewhere. I have given Firefly notice as I cannot justify £6800 annually when the £4500 for Microsoft does everything it does plus a lot more. We will also not pay the outrageous sum Smart wanted for the software update to the latest version. Teachers are already teaching using OneNote.

Same here: we're on 1903 and feature updates are enabled. I prefer to keep it all up to date and security patched rather than trying to test each version. I simply don't have the manpower. Win 10-64 Edu for us throughout the organisation.

Us, too. I can see our RemoteApp server reducing to being there for SIMS (main school) and Sesame (summer school) only. SIMS will (hopefully) go to the cloud soon, if Capita pull their finger out. Our 'everything everywhere' concept is beginning to take shape with Office 365, Teams, SharePoint available for use with their own Windows 10 and MacOS machines at home and their phones if they wish.

We issue Lenovo E490 14" laptops to most staff and Microsoft Surface Pro i5 to SLT and other senior management.

As I said earlier, the problem for us is not British schools, it's foreign ones. Sometimes we get a prompt response, other times they never response, the time period lapses and we inform the LEA. It's all we can do and, speaking with them, they very rarely get an update either.

I couldn't find a way, and nor could I get past the maximum 5,000 files limit. All in all it would either not work properly or grind to a halt. I'm deploying the SharePoint portals via a simple shortcut and leaving OneDrive for Business to sync its own stuff. It does work well like that. Have you tried Microsoft Stream for video deployment yet? It's excellent. The only problem is yet more uploading!

We're an independent school and it's our decision when we off-roll a student. Yes, we follow the LEA process, provide the information required and mark in SIMS what has happened as far as we know. However, we don't want our database indicating that a student is on-roll when we know they have left. Our parents always give communication, no-one just disappears. Also, we are inspected by the ISI, not Ofsted, and we achieved an Excellent in our recent inspection, which included compliance.

Asset tags don't work so well when you're trying to remember the machine name belonging to someone.

Best practice is to keep the default domain policy empty, and place your default company policy next to it. I have seen a network go severely inoperative when the default GPO is screwed in any way.

Boarding and day school, makes it very complex. Having 'on-roll' students who are no longer there is just silly. All because inept people in the LEA think up these processes without having a clue how a school actually operates. i know what they're trying to do - track under-age students who fall through the cracks in the system. Holding schools falsely accountable for students who have left isn't the way.

Some DfE guidance makes no sense and is unworkable. For instance, the LEA leavers' process is to retain a student on-roll until we receive proof that they have started at their next school. This is unworkable as our on-roll numbers would quite often be incorrect, fire lists, trip lists etc. likewise. There is also no appreciation that a leaver going to a school abroad may well result in no contact ever again. Foreign schools are very bad at acknowledging any communications. By the time we get permission from the LEA to actually remove the student it can be a couple of months down the line. We therefore mark them as 'left' at the right time and have a user-defined flag for when we receive confirmation of the next school or LEA contact about them.

We use MAK activation and re-imaging machines does burn licences. However, I have never had a problem asking Microsoft for, say, 100 more licences. They do it without question.

I set all new students as 'Admitted' on the start date of 4 September (for this year). That way they show as status 'Future' in SIMS and we can get the curriculum, house, tutors etc. all ready for them. I also create their logins and e-mail addresses in readiness. Similarly, I set Leavers as leaving on 31 August so that we can process their exam results before they get terminated in SIMS.

We're still using Xibo very happily here, with ten real and one virtual screen (for the intranet).

Pretty much the same here. We use NNN for the staff initials if it's an allocated machine and for the room if it's a suite machine. So... LENOVOE490-MAT or MSSURFACE6-SRE or LENOVOE71-C1.

Our retention policy allows for a maximum retention of 7 years in any folder. Only contacts last longer at 15 years.

I too am rolling out Teams in conjunction with Office 365, OneNote, Forms etc. We've got AD sync working so are now able to add all our users to product licences and Teams. It's all new here so I'm not sure I can help much, but very happy to swap ideas.
