Too add if you are creating a new AD domain/forest I'd go for creating a subdomain for the public domain you already own i.e. internalad.someschool.sch.uk .

I've migrated my small network at home to a different Domain and if everything works OK users won't notice but I'd say out of 10 servers/workstations 1 windows 10 and one server 2008 had to manually muck around as ADMT could not get access to the C drive. Basic steps I performed were: Setup conditional forwarders on DNS servers in each domain Set up a 2 way trust Set up a domain joined server/workstation to run ADMT (should not need to be installed on a DC, and certainly would not want to install it on a new DC) Use ADMT to migrate workstations, groups and users You will also need to export group policies too from old domain and import to new one I did not have to deal with SQL or Exchange in my setup and only had one user on Office 365 which I cannot remember how I dealt with.

Jus a matter of setting the DNS server IP on the DHCP settings where ever you move the DHCP to. The DNS and a lot more settings can be distributed depending on the options on the DHCP server.

If you run MDT or SCCM you could easily deploy new server OS without all the mucking around. During the deployment you could change the name of the server and join to the domain. But I agree with @mavhc jus add a second virtual disk rather than adding a partition, depending on your need/setup you can then have flexibility and separate the OS from the Application data i.e. exchange/SQL to separate faster storage.

If it is talking to a cloud/external service then you won't need any inbound rules. My biggest concern is why they sold such a solution to schools which frequently have proxy servers and firewalls not controlled by them. You need to push back on this and ask why this was done without any consultation with IT department. Many years back worked in a company providing third party support, we get a call from customer that wifi printer not working. BT had ripped out the router we put in which had all the settings for the domain different IP etc. BT engineer jus ripped it out and put the BT router back in. Customer was good with me, left me to it and gave me a few quid next time I saw him as I stayed on site till late sorting out the mess.

If the cameras/NVR have no connectivity to/from the Internet and are logically and/or physically separated from lateral movement internally then I cannot see what the big deal is with CCTV, Am I missing something.

I had one of those many years back but cannot remember what happened to it. I think I might of given it away even. It had a real basic intergrated RAID. I may of even used the raid functionality within windows and had the OS/boot on a single disk. I may of even set one up similar many years back for media under the understanding that we did not have the ability to back up the media on it.

What server and what RAID card was it running. TBH It prob won't be without any risk so prepare for the worst and any better will be a bonus.

You won't get a SFP with SC connection, I've never seen one anyway not to fit a modern switch. Some very old Cisco switches used to have SC connectors but as you can see they are at least double the width of the smaller more modern LC connector. Have a look through the thread and check what others have said. Ideally you want it all to match. The mode at both ends need to match i.e MultiMode (Short Range) or Single mode (Long Range) . You also want to use similar/same cable i.e. 9/125 (OS) , 50/125 (OM2,3,4,5) or 62.5/125 (OM1 but that is old standard) . https://community.fs.com/blog/single-mode-cabling-cost-vs-multimode-cabling-cost.html You can get SC to LC patch cables or use a adapter but I recommend a patch cable with correct connections on each end.

The media convertors are SC but the SFP is LC. Are you using patch cables. Also the media convertor looks like short range and the sfps look like long range. What fibre cabling have you got in place, do you use patch cables from a fibre patch panel or is it a fibre straight through?

I have found with HP servers that you sometimes need to specify the Hard drive controller driver at Windows Install. Apart from that do you need also to going into the RAID config and setup a drive too? Can you screenshot the error.

Good luck with IAM. doing any form of advanced/extra training is well worth it INMO, I find it does add extra enjoyment to driving. Depends, you might like to configure so only devices that need to use the relay can. This might be a good way to keep track of where you have used the relay settings too

Gamma are talked about a lot, no personal experience but previous places have used it and not heard anything bad.

I have 4G backup for home. For business I'd suggest getting a sim with Static IP. With my setup at home it fails over without me noticing to the extent I was watching streaming services and it failed over and used all my monthly allowance in a few days :-( . Since implemented change that streaming devices have no internet access on the 4G connection. I use a DrayTek 2620LN for the backup 4G. I had a Teltonika RUT955 but frequently found had to reboot.

You could have issues with multiple adapters on a DC (multi homed domain controller) You could go down a different route and get a 2nd hand router and/or use vlans. I did that when setting up a VDI project about 10 years ago. Different vlan can have different dhcp server and DNS. You are not restricted to the hypervisor then and can attach any device to the same vlan/router.

Are the site team going to monitoring 24/7 then or only want to be notified and take action/view when there is some form of alert/detection? To be honest a lot of home solutions I would not want to use in a school environment for the security/safe guarding aspect of who can get hold of that data. But I'd prob echo and have some sort of secure remote desktop or server rather than using an app directly over vpn.

Cant really rely on software, who says vlc will run on any versions of os in 5 years let alone 50. Take a look at techmoan channel, he gets a lot of media devices and gets them working. You want something basic that jus needs a bit of mechanical or ingenuity repair to get working INMO.
