Aruba 1960 is the new line, but I get the impression they are only stackable for management and do not act a logical stack i.e. being able to split LACP between members of the stack, etc. A lot of Aruba switches are no longer lifetime, the warranty for models can be found no their site somewhere. I put in 120 48port PoE switches (mixture of 2530s and 2540s) in 2 buildings 4 years ago and we have only had to replace 2 of them.

Firewall ports, NAT. Have you tried accessing from inside your network as well, depending on how your network is setup i.e. where the USG is, is it on your LAN on an internal non-public IP?

I would check out that Unifi Dream Machine Pro is suitable and does what you need (or may need in the near future). I'd even go for a slightly more expensive pfsense box or Sophos etc. As for ACLs, yes they can be done on a core switch or a firewall. Personally if possible I'd keep WiFi separate and route/ACL on your firewall allowing only traffic needed to be routed back to you core switch/servers etc. You will generally find firewall rules are easier to work with than ACLs on a core switch and I have done a fair bit of both in the past.

If it is configured for layer 3 but should be able to see in the config. Have a look at the config, if you can post it here but remove any identifiable information. A 8 port 2530-8G PoE should be adequate and they are passively cooled but have an external power brick that can get a bit warm.

I'd say both in the case of the Fenix 5 I have. I done all my marathon training which included custom Intervals, warm ups >run > warm downs, etc. I can also tell it the distance and time I want to run that distance in and it will say how much behind or in front I am whilst I am running. I do this on the App, you can do basic things on the Fenix 5 watch too. You can also customise the screens on the watch and remove those activities that you don't have the need for. The app gives a lot more features and when you tie in with Strava syncs automatically. Can give false pace in tree cover from what I have found. The only issue I have had was the failure to sunc which was always resolved by restarting the phone. There was about 2 years back for about a week that the Garmin Connect service was down.

Day to day rarely unless it is a specific task that only I normally do. If so I jus teams message /email my team and put in our shared area. Prob needs something a bit better though. I've always been quite good at documentation but at the same time always nice to have a colleague run through in anger to make sure not missed anything :-)

Good points and this is one to look out for You will prob have do something trick with the permissions if you have pointed their documents to a Windows Server share that is used for all users documents.

Never found a way to do it whilst using find searching in AD Users and Computers. Always have to use the find to get the location then locate the actual account. Maybe a PowerShell script might help??

Same here, got a Fenix 5, had it about 3-4 years now. Occasionally I need to reboot my phone to get it to sync but apart from that it has been very reliable. I do around 1,000 miles a year running. Used for Marathon, training runs and fun runs/races. But I had a Garmin before, a Forerunner which came off my wrist during mountain biking, that was 2nd hand but was reliable.

Proxy? But yes an issue with some of these Unifi devices is that they sometimes need internet access initially. Can you take it home, update then test/reconfigure with a local access only Super User account then take it back to site again? This is what I did to mine after my Cloud Key at home lost internet access and could no longer admin it.

This is what we did at a previous place. Our script would check AD daily for students that were members of specific AD groups and then create a folder for each of the students with relevant permissions and the staff to have read access. But the students used local storage as scratch disks for video work.

I use calendar notifications with brief description then reference the call/ticket system ref number. This can accomplish a bit but if you have more complex tasks and multiple people doing them then planner software would prob be better with some sort of email reminder

Only ever got into MACs as the Media teacher at my first Edu role was struggling to use them but we had the job of re-imaging them but that was 10 years back. We had a lot MACs at a previous place which was a college. They never seemed to give us much issue but the teaching staff were very good with them and as a result we never really had much to do with them or support them even apart form provisioning the network connectivity. They did have JAMF and I did a very small bit of work with it, seemed OK to use. In my experience it comes down to the teaching staff, how MAC savvy they are and that they are buying them for the right reason. Make sure you raise the question of support/training and the software tools to manage them.

Are you going to be using the 2930 for DHCP or setup ip helper addresses to point to a external DHCP server?

I only ever upgrade by tftp or we use a HP switch management tool called iMC that does it over ssh on a schedule or as required. tftp does not work if you have tftp disabled on the switch. though. Install a tftp server on your desktop (I generally use Pumkin or you can use tftpd32) Putty to the switch and run the command copy tftp flash [iP ADDRESS OF DESKTOP RUNNING TFTP SERVER] [FIRMWARE FILE] primary i.e. copy tftp flash 192.168.1.25 YA_16_10_0019.swi primary As long as you have an exception on your desktops firewall or temp disable the firewall and have the tftp software pointing to the folder where the firmware is that should work :-)

I'd use a cname pointing to the A record. If you need to change the IP address of the server you jus change in one place.

2300 Aruba APs supporting 8000 users average with remote sites using remote APs for wired/wireless connectivity. 3 controller cluster with mobility masters also in cluster. No real issues in 5 years apart from admin created issues by third parties, lol.

I sometimes find ping 8.8.8.8 resolves it, also try pinging a reliable external web site via its fqdn if both those work then there should be no issue. Pinging is not 100% reliable but if you get a result of DNS should be some helpful indication

Not tried it but Synology can backup a LUN. See the link in my previous post.

It's down to nlasvc in my opinion crud. There are registry hacks to point it to another URL. But the globe itself is not very meaningful and can be misleading.

Think it is more than jus AirGroup https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/InstantWenger_Mobile/Advanced/Content/AirGroup/AirGroup.htm But also looking into this my self as our users could have devices on 1 of 20 different vlans, also on Aruba. It is one of the things we will prob pushed to deal with as and when the org sees a need. Using Aruba, Mobility Masters/controllers and ClearPass.

Yes it is a lot for one PC. Whatever happens you will likely need to involve the firewall/router. If you setup a new vlan on the core switch there will likely need to be a route added on the firewall/router to route traffic back to the network on the core switch. Once done a few it gets pretty easy but sometimes easy to miss the odd thing still :-)

How does you guest WiFi authenticate, is that an issue. Not sure what router/firewall you have but you could setup an isolated vlan on that, do an ACL on the actual vlan on the core switch where that vlans default gateway is to prevent traffic to your other networks whilst allowing traffic out to the internet but TBH I'd prefer doing this on your firewall so it is very isolated, generally easier than dealing with ACLs on a core switch too.
