Hi I have recently switched our school email over to office 365 everything has gone smoothly. But I have redirected our mail URL (mail.schoolname.sch.uk) to point to office 365. At home works fine. But in school when people try hit the URL it just hangs. I'm guessing it could be some issue with the old emaili domain being stored in the cache or something. Anyone any ideas how to get it to work? And actually redirect to the new URL? Cheers

Hi I have worked with their uniservity platform as well as LIFE and they both have the similar issues. Speed! The VLE is very slow, could just be our area but it has a lot of issues when you have a whole class on. Life has a great range of features and addon's but there are a lot of costs involved for the add ons. LIFE is a massive improvement on their previous VLE. A number of the schools around me are switching to eschools which might be worth a look a lot cheaper, a lot of MIS features for the likes of attendance etc and parent logins. The class features are also getting better on it. For me at the moment i would say VLE for primary use eschools, VLE for secondary use Moodle.

Does anyone know roughly how much Dell Kace is? I am in the same situation where i have been asked to research asset management software. Also has anyone heard of Paragon? A new member of staff has recommended it but i cant find a website for them. Cheers

Hi We are about to switch over to Office 365 as our school email system but i have noticed sometimes when i load it up the buttons like new, reply, options become unresponsive. I can click any of the buttons and it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone had a similar issue? Thanks

Hi I am currently setting up Office 365 for migration over half term. I am trying to turn off the password requirement for a strong password e.g. one number, one capital letter and at least 8 characters. I have tried the cmds get-msoluser | set-msoluser -StrongPasswordRequired $false cmdlet:Get-MsolUser | Where {$_.StrongPasswordRequired -eq "true"}| set-msoluser -StrongPasswordRequired $false Has anyone successfully achieved this? Hi How would i set IE 9 compatibility mode off for all users by default? I have figured out how to enable the button and options for users but i would rather just change it for them so i don't have to ask 1400 users to change it. This is because our VLE menu displays in some pretty strange ways in compatibility mode and i want to turn it off by default for all users but cannot find where to do it. Thanks P.S. I have found the turn off compatibility mode in the registry policies but when logging in as staff the box for "enable compatibility view for intranet sites is still ticked, when unticked it works.

When adding the domain I'm guessing that is so we can use it for the email addresses. If our current email address was like [email protected]. And the URL we go to for our current email is mail.school.england.sch.uk. Would the domain we need to add be school.england.sch.uk or mail.school.england.sch.uk? Thanks

Hi Sorry i meant on the 30 day trial. I have now verified our domain and got the education pricing. We are adding the licenses to our account and going for the free A2 Faculty licenses. How many licenses have people chosen? Just enough to cover staff or have you gone a couple of hundred more? We have about 190 staff email accounts. Is there any difference if i chose 500 licenses seem as though they are free? Can you add more at any point? Thanks

If i set up everything on the trial login e.g. contact groups, sharepoint sites, email accounts will they all still be there when we redirect our email and add the domain? Thanks

Hi Just wanted to check that on the verify your domain it asks you to insert a new TXT or MX record with our DNS provider. Does this affect our current email system? If I verify and add this record would it affect our current email going to our webmail? Just want to make sure I wouldn't affect the current email system and start sending mail to office 365 yet. Thanks for the advice. We are just accessing our current desknow email system via a URL which is hosted by the council. When you register for the trial it asks you to verify you are an education establishment. If I enter in our current domain that won't affect our current email system will it? Would staff need to have downloaded their email to some sort of client e.g. Outlook or apple calendar to re upload it? I'll have a look at that link now. How long did it take you to switch the email over from start to finish? How much downtime? Thanks again.

Hi We are currently using a council based email system but find it slow, unreliable and the 20gb limit for the whole school too small. I have been investigating moving our staff to office 365 the free education version as we already use edu.live for our students and have upgraded that to office 365. Just a few questions have popped up. Has anyone migrate to office 365 for all their staff email? If yes how have you found the migration and usage now? Is there a way to keep the emails off the old system? A hosted desknow? When upgraded edu.live for students there is an option at the top of the screen to make new documents, I can't see this on our demo of office 365 is there something you have to enable for it or is this jut available via Sharepoint? And any other advice Or tips that you discovered along the way. Cheers

Hi We upgraded to windows 7 over the summer after testing all our software and typically cubase updated their licensing dongles over teh summer and now it will not work with windows 7 or when we have rebuilt a machines as the original OS (Windows XP SP3). Does anyone have cubase SE3 running on windows 7 SP1 successfully? I have looked at alternatives as we spend alot of time trying to fix issues with cubase and find it very buggy. Has anyone switched from Cubase to Reaper? Seen some very good reviews online for it. The software is cheaper, looks like they have better support and by all reports less buggy. Thanks

This is what we currently do but a senior member of a department is not happy as he says he needs to trial software before going through installing it on the network and it is affecting learning of children. So if we allowed exe's it would need to be done for each different disk there can't be a sweeping rule for all exe and swf files from the DVD drive? Cheers

Hi Is it possible to allow staff users to run software from DVD's eg. Flash files or exe's but still to prevent them installing the software? Need a quick reply if anyone can help. We have some staff complaining at not being able to run software straight from dvd's. just wondering if it is possible? Without letting them install other disks. Cheers
