MS Exchange 2010 whole school shared calendar help
tj2419 replied to tj2419's topic in Enterprise Software
Hi Can the free edition of sharepoint be used to create a room booking system as well? I saw some schools use sharepoint and it would be quite good to integrate room bookings, calendars and email all in the one setup. Thanks -
MS Exchange 2010 whole school shared calendar help
tj2419 replied to tj2419's topic in Enterprise Software
Hi thanks, Whats a PF calendar and how would I set that up? Cheers -
Hi guys, Bit of a newbie to the world of ms exchange. I am trying to find a way to set up a calendar that is automatically shared with all users. So when they log in the group calendar is there they don't have to accept a link in an email. And then either this happens automatically for newly created accounts or I can run a script to do it. Anyone know where there is an idiots guide or video to help me with this? Many thanks

Hi How do you download / setup ms forefront for free?we are a secondary school just setting up exchange and this sounds perfect to filter the spam and viruses. Just can't see where to get it or start running it. Cheers

Hi Guys, We are looking at getting a new server for a new installation of exchange 2010. Just wondering what spec to buy? We normally get HP or Dell gear and was using dell's config tool but not exactly sure what to get for exchange. If anyone could advise me what spec is needed or fill in the config tool it would be greatly appreciated. http://premierconfigure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?config_data=&~tgt=cfg&c=uk&cs=RC1050272&customer_id=RC1050272&fb=1&l=en&model_id=poweredge-r210-2&oc=per210ii&s=k12 We are looking at a user base of about 180 accounts to start with. And an upper price limit of £3k. Preferably closer to £2k. Thanks

They have all just changed in February as wirral support staff have under gone harmonisation. It's difficult to say as in each category of job profiles for each band their is an ict technician role. Will you / are you based in secondary school or at the council?
-
We have an admin windows network running on 2003 and a curriculum network (cc4 also on 2003). Our admin server is mostly managed by the council and have been assured they have been through all the options in the above article. Our support technician came in and ran an update on the admin servers network card which went wrong and disconnected it from the network as the driver didn't match the HP network configuration utility. During this we transfered DHCP over to our curriculum server so we had one network running. We then fixed the admin server by roling back the driver and downloading an older version of the HP utility and transfered DHCP back. We have now the admin network running perfectly but this error reason 0 coming up on the majority of our curriculum machines. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Exchange 2010 - Questions - calendar sharing and room booking
tj2419 replied to tj2419's topic in Enterprise Software
It's basically for one person to edit but to show to the whole school. E.g. When inset days are, holidays, meetings etc. Sorry still new to it what is a PF or SP calendar? Thanks -
Hi Guys, Sorry this is probably really basic but exchange 2010. How do i create a shared calendar that everyone has automatically in their calendars. Basically so i don't have to send an email to all the accounts sharing the calendar? On another point, does anyone use exchange room mailboxes for ICT room bookings? Is it possibly to make it so staff can make a booking straight away by clicking on the room calendar? Rather than having to send an email? Debating the best way of doing it. Thanks

I have one pc on an rm cc4 network that when any user tries to login i get the following error. They are then not able to run any local applications but can run IE 8 and their documents load. Any suggestions on what is causing it and how to fix it would be great thanks.

Hi Glennda, thats what we originally wanted but there is a window above the only place it can go and two site visits have said it wouldn't fit or the interactive board would be about half a meter off the floor (too low). Cheers anyway

Hi Has anyone used large (46-65" monitors) instead of a projector and smartboard in a classroom? We have a studio where the ceiling is too high and we don't want a projector coming down on a long pole. We have looked at parabolic projectors but we haven't got the room to fit one in with a smart board. We want an interactive solution so was looking at large touch screen monitors as a possibility but wanted to know others opinions if they have used them. LG M4716T Large Format Display - 47" Widescreen, 1080p HD Touch Screen LCD Monitor - LG Electronics UK Thanks

Ericom - Remote access - Your opinions and experiences?
tj2419 replied to tj2419's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
They are a company that offers RDP through your browser using HTML5 only so it is compatible on almost any device with a web browser. Windows, OSX, IOS etc. HTML5 RDP Client - Free Trial - From Chromebooks or any HTML5-compatible browser -
When i installed office 2010 i just downloaded and installed the KMS host on our server and then either deployed the package, installed the image or installed office off the disk and had it connected to the network (wireless or cable) and it activates itself. Some take a few restarts. Check the event logs on the server to see if any machines have activated automatically off your KMS. That way you will know it is defiantly working and running through your firewall.

Hi Guys, I am looking at a cheap but effective remote access for 100 concurrent users at my secondary school. Ericom looks like an excellent alternative citrix. Still trying to get my head round it. How do you have it set up? A server running the software and terminal services. How much storage do you use for virtual machines? Really just after a rough idea of how you have it set up and running. Many thanks
-
Has anyone implemented or know roughly how much a citrix solution would cost for 100 concurrent users? Thanks
-
Sorry for some basic questions here this is all new to me. 1. Does DirectAccess only work with server 2008 and windows 7 (Enterprise & Ultimate ONLY)? 2. With direct access and remote app are you able to access file shares and school applications over the internet? 3. Anyone know of a good guide for setting all this up? 3. Do you pay for extra licenses for the applications? 4. NAT? Thanks Guys
-
Has anyone implemented a citrix solution? How much did it roughly cost? Thanks
-
Our LA block logmein. Teamviewer works but isn't really stable enough for large numbers of access just for the technicians to login.
-
Would this licensing be different than say if I had an ees licensing agreement it wouldn't cover the external machine if it connected?
-
So with your setup the users are able to open network applications like SIMS, office or photoshop? How much did this cost to setup? Do you know how many connections you roughly have + size of your school? Sorry for all the questions this is a steep learning curve for me Thanks
