I have seen automatic power on and off times in projectors. We have one at work for a museum we have (never thought I would say that). Might be worth looking for that feature to see if they have it? If so - you could configure them to turn off at 5pm or something.

Projectors generally cool off after being used. Could this damage the projector if the power is being pulled too early?

Are they meant to connect to a VPN first. It would route the traffic via their proxy and work fine. Maybe there is an automatic VPN that is being blocked at the school. It will explain why the cheers report it working elsewhere.

I know someone who has it. The upload speed is quite poor and the latency is quite high. I guess it’s better than ADSL though.

Have you set the correct default gateway on the printer? If that’s not right it won’t be able to communicate outside of the VLAN.

A true core switch in the enterprise campus design (a design consisting of edge, distribution and core switches) is Layer 3 only so Spanning Tree isn’t a thing on these switches (as this is a layer 2 technology). But those designs are used in large sites. Your core switches (this topology is often referred to a collapsed core) do have layer 2 links. In this situation you would have spanning tree enabled on all your switches including the core.

The native VLAN sends other data as well. Technically speaking it doesn’t matter what the native VLAN is, as long as it’s the same on both the server and switch. Personally I wouldn’t use VTP. You’re asking for trouble!
