In my previous position, we installed hundreds of Unifi Nano HD access points across 20 sites. At the time Wifi 6 wasn't a thing. They worked great and had no issues at all! Worked much better than the Cisco junk we ripped out. I would recommend running your controller on a Linux virtual machine, on Windows it runs in the user profile space. The lite versions didn't use a POE standard, so the vast majority of switches couldn't power them without injectors. Not an issue with Pro or HD. This may have changed though, worth keeping an eye on this. Has something changed in the new offering? When I last purchased Unifi the HD (Nano HD) were superior to the Pro (AC Pro) version. We had a single site using AC Pro and changed them to Nano HD to match the other sites and service improved. WIFI 6 has a limit of 8. Although it is best practise with any WIFI deployment to keep the number of SSID to a minimum. I find people sometimes waste their SSID capacity, you can combine multiple networks into 1 SSID and then assign the VLAN on Radius authentication rules. For example 1 SSID could do "corporate" machines, staff & student BYOD but all be in different VLANS.

Not in education but we was discussing how EdgeOS would be good for us. We have a lot of kiosk, and digital signage screens and shared computers in public spaces. They would be ideal for ChromeBoxes.

Redundant internet connections. You probably have 2 power supplies and RAID in your server, same principle applies.

I manage a fleet of 250+ servers. I use WSUS to fully patch them, including installation and reboot. But the reboot is scheduled overnight. It works great. I do have a test group I use first, if all good then deploy to production. I do have production spilt into groups and patch over a 4 day period. I split servers like domain controllers into seperate groups so they aren’t all offline at the same time. If you update your ADMX files there are heaps more options in group policy relating to automating patching.

It does seem the UK education system is behind the times with their technology. !:! seems to be the norm in western countries. Australia for example, students have their own device from primary school age. When I think if it. I stared high school over 20 years ago and schools seem to have the same approach to student devices. Seems a little antiquated. Technology and it's implementation has moved on, the UK hasn't (on the whole) and now issues are starting to surface.

It's a consequence of not having proper maintenance and support contracts. If they did issues should be fixed. If not they can legally hold someone accountable and resolve the situation.

They essentially have a smart school. It might be difficult to get to computerised lights back on. This is a bit of a guess.

Have you tried a BIOS update? There have been a few threads on here that see strange drive behaviour with newer versions on Windows 10. BIOS updates fixed a number [emoji846]

Do you have Chromebooks? Maybe some ChromeOS tablets using the Kiosk features?

A bit of a guess here but there could be an issue with your fibre connections. Maybe the fibre cable between the 2 buildings. Are you able to see if the ports are dropping out?

These are quite different from what I am used to. They are from the small business line. The commands are different and the technology by the looks of it. Are you able to run “Show Switch” please?

I haven't looked at all the logs as for whatever reason I am struggling to open the images, but it looks like something is going wrong with the stacking. What model switches do you have and how are they stacked? You said they are split across 2 buildings, so I am guessing you're stacking using VSS? If so I guess this is going over fibre optic? Are you able to run "Show Switch Detail" and "Show Version" in the CLI please and post the result here (or via PM) please? Thanks

Hello, I am trying to download ESXi (version 8) free. However, the VMware site seems to be having an issue. "Unable to process your request. Please try again later.' I have the keys and everything. Just can't get the ISO! Is anyone else having issues please? Thanks

I standardise on drivers and bios revisions across all devices. Makes things a little more predictable.

Excellent. What do you use to build? I have used SCCM and I include a BIOS update as part of the build process. Makes things a touch easier.
