Good Evening, I am looking for an application that will run on Physical Windows Server (this will be a PC). I would like it to convert an incoming email received from an SMTP relay, take the subject or body and send it as an test message. The SIM could be installed via a USB adapter. Can someone recommend something please? I know I can use various cloud services but I need this to be on premise. It's for IT outage notifications and it needs to send an SMS if the internet is down. Thank You

Great news - glad it sorted!

Is there an entry in the local host file that could be causing this?

It's a 5 minute walk from my house to the bar, but a 45 minute walk from the bar to my house... The difference is staggering.

With SSL the internet can be filtered. For example you can block adult sites. You looks the ability to sections of certain domains eg “site.com/example”. You also reduce you’re monitoring capability. If things haven’t changed you’re not required to do this anyway for guests.

It’s funny how a whole school can get stuck onto the wrong terminology. I looked after one school who I looked after and they called all desktop computers “stand alone ”. Another called external hard drives “memory boxes” 🤷♂️

I echo the above. Synology also do one. It’s included with the hardware. Works great.

Is there any reason to enable it? Are things working ok with the current configuration?

If you NAT the addresses for the server VLAN it should be fine. If you didn’t want to change any device IP maybe NAT the entire lot? -

Is the price increase if they don’t sign the contract? If so that’s normal. There is usually a discount when you sign up for a long term period rather than 30 day rolling. -

My pet mouse "Elvis" died last night. He was caught in a trap.

Have you considered that these computers won’t run Windows 11 and that Windows 10 is end of life in a couple of years? It might not be best inventing money into these for such a short period of time.

Massive fan of LanSweeper. The data you can get from it is invaluable. The Helpdesk isn’t great though. I wouldn’t use it for that.

Hello, Sory about the delay. I ran the commands on both systems. I get output from my Ubuntu box but the Synology not so much so.... I can PM the Ubuntu output if you like? Thanks

There is a section of EduGeek to sell items?

That's my intended outcome. I don't want it to touch the permissions at all. I don't want them to match the source. Sorry I didn't get chance to run the commands. There was power outage at work that I had to attend to. Just got home and off to bed. I will report back shortly. Shall I send the results via PM as they may contain names? Thanks

Synology is my 4 bay NAS. We aren’t using a centralised system from users. This is actually a home setup. I will run those commands when I get back home. To be honest, I didn’t expect this to me such a complex issue. I assumed it would inherit the permissions on the destination folder like it would in Windows. I am not a huge Linux expert so thanks for your patience.

-p doesn't work either. I am not sure what type of permissions Synology uses. When you say mapped correctly, how do you mean please?

The Dell tools are great. Easy to update and manage BIOS settings. Something not possible with many lower tier brands.

All Optiplex machines are supplied with drivers that are designed to be used with SCCM / WDS / MDT.
