Hi EduGeek. ( I have reached out to Admin about community feedback, but never got a reply, Apologise if this against TOS) I've recently started working alongside OptiTune to help get the product ready for the MSP-Market. However.. being in education for 10 years and seeing the price I managed to negotiate for our MSP (Education) it made me realise Network Managers could really make use of a product like this. I'm not here to sell anything to be very clear. I'm only working with OptiTune on a Roadmap and Community Feedback to steer the product in the right direction. Long story short - Ignore the price on the website. I'm looking to work with some Network Managers at schools, to understand pricing, usability and requirements. I was an Infrastructure Manager at a Trust for 7 Years so completely understand budget constraints which is why I was personally never able to afford an RMM solution. ( Trust me I Tried ) If you have some spare time, fancy singing up for a trial let me know. My company e-mail is [email protected] To re-iterate, I'm not trying to sell this. I just want to over the next 6 months create a roadmap for OptiTune and potentially have a separate education offering which is cheaper and has everything you guys need!

I wanted to make those interested aware of the latest Kaspersky Lab promotion that could save you some money. As I’m sure you will know Kaspersky released their endpoint security platform some time ago and it covers a range of solutions that have all been developed from the same code base, and can be managed by a central platform. These include anti-malware, firewall, application management, patch management, data protection etc. They have recently announced a brand new offer, exclusively available for schools, colleges, universities and other official educational organisations that could save you some money. For a limited time only we’re able to offer a great discount off the standard education RRP when buying new licenses of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business or Kaspersky Security for Virtualisation. This offer is available on 1, 2 or 3 year license terms for 200+ users/nodes. If you have any questions, would like some more information, or if you would like to speak with someone about the solution or offer feel free to PM me and I will ensure it is dealt with. We’re also able to offer a 30 day free trial to anyone that is interested.

Hello, Our school became an Impero customer this past year and one of the requirements from the Admin was that they wanted the student laptops to be patched. Within the tech department we found a horrible trend that students do not update/patch their computers of important software/os changes and as such, many standardized testing software would misfire when we got to exam season. In almost every scenario it was because the computer was not maintained/patched properly. I've evaluated Impero for a few months and unfortunately, their patch management solutions just aren't what I expected. It's severely buggy, the reports are limited or do not work, it only supports Windows (was not told that when I purchased the addon...), and just feel it could be significantly better. I really do hope they spend some time making improvements to this utility; however, my impression of Impero currently is very mixed and I do not know if it will be a long term solution at the international school I represent. (Hoping they improve). So I am looking for a new solution in terms of Windows/Mac support. Our school uses Manage Engine Desktop, which is amazing for all of our staffing machines; however, that requires that the laptops be on the domain and it gets very expensive to add 200 BYOD computers onto that license. As you are aware, BYOD laptops are not going to be a part of group policy/active directory. I'm trying to find something independent that will download updates to our server and then push out to any student byod laptop that has the client software installed when they are connected to our network. Any advise is greatly appreciated?

Hi all, I'm looking at streamlining the updating of our windows servers as at the moment its a manual process of RDP in update and task schedule a reboot over night. With 25 servers this is time comsuming. Someone has said I need to look into RMM's and Patch Management so I can automate this better. I don't have any experience with these. I've seen companies like Datto offer patch management. I'm wondering if there is any free / opensource alternatives that people are using that they recommend or anything that doesn't cost a lot of money as it's education.

I have a box full of 0.5m CAT 6 PATCH CABLES. Free to collect or you can arrange delivery from Uxbridge, UB3.
