From our side: When you allowed your computers to do the latest updates (to see if there's a correlation) and if you actually allow driver updates? - We have all drivers being updated via Windows Update, however checking today a few of the machines have old Intel drivers so feel it's more likely a Windows patch Also is it limited to HDMI, VGA, Display Port ? - Only noticed it on HDMI machines currently Using splitters? Dual output? - Dual output, no splitters here for HDMI at least Desktops only affected or laptops (with inbuilt screen) too? - Both reported, but hard to tell if all the issues are linked AMD or Intel GFX chipset?- All Intel so far for us that we've had it reported on Steve

Yeah that’s a common one with PowerPoint, but we started having reports of machines just changing the settings mid lesson from multiple sites so wondered if anyone found a specific driver/patch that might be causing it I fully appreciate it might just be new term user errors but thought I’d ask after seeing this thread if anyone else had noticed it, as we never had any of these issues prior to summer being reported Steve

Unless something's changed recently then none of them are, one of the reasons I still don't like those kind of devices. But was just a reference to your finding 16gb one If a device isn't upgrade long-term, even in terms of easy storage/ram upgrades personal opinion is it goes in the no pile! Steve

Honestly I think it's more an Apple issue regarding how the logins work rather than Smoothwall as haven't seen any other companies have a better solution. (same with any monitoring tools for ipads requiring a custom browser etc) The only other way I could see of doing it is if you use the shared-mode where they have their own logins via ASM, as I assume each instance of Safari wouldn't remember cookies etc from the last one (or are these just standalone ipads as such) so wouldn't have the authentication cookies etc if switched to another user (that is an assumption without checking though) Steve

On the login page once you're logged in it does appear as logout, that's mentioned in my link above "The shortcut to the login page on the main screen can then be used to manually log out once they are done." Yes it still relies on them clicking it, but then that's user error rather than you not following guidance Steve

That depends on what you want this for, as in does it matter if it has other information as long as it includes the list? (as in is it being scripted into something?) - or just the easiest thing for an end-user to run? There's pre-made reports "Reports -> Student Analysis Reports -> Student Totals for Year and Registration Groups" that would just give a nice table with reggroup and number of students built in without any cutting/changing required if that's any use? But if you want something fully custom you'd need to design a report as below: Data Area -> Group Data Fields -> Group Name.. (As required) Filter -> Group Type is one of "Registration Group" Steve

It's an oddity with the way they create the shortcut and how OneDrive works. They make it locally on the machine bypassing KFM, then KFM goes oh no file and uploads it. Repeat on another machine that they haven't logged in and it'll do same again, look locally, go oh new shortcut and upload it Think last time I looked at it the only option was doing powershell script to delete them, but not sure if they added anything new in since Steve

Do any of you guys have a setup guide you've followed to Windowfy the chromebooks? Most the ones I've had a nosy at previously always seem to have large issues like having to type entire email addresses, or login twice on the chrome login then azure login etc and would be good to see if there's something they're missing Thanks, Steve

The ASP is just register for firmware It can be a pain to search for it sometimes as doing something like 1950 will bring lots of rubbish up, so worth trying to get the actual firmware number to search for though Steve

That sounds like it's working as expected. Your device collection needs to have a TS set as "Available" for it to be able to PXE boot. Clients without a record/client automatically are added into the "All Unknown Computers" collection which is where I assume your TS is currently set to be available in. But once they're registered/cliented they need to have a different collection with the TS available to be able to PXE boot again. So for example we have an "All Workstations" which our TS is available on. This then allows them to PXE even if known. So for example: UnknownPC = All Unknown Computers collection = PXEable KnownPC (Within a collection with TS available) = PXEable KnownPC (Within a collection without a TS available) = NotPXEable If you want to test it, just set the TS as available to the collection it's in (Using either option that includes PXE not the Only Config Manager one) - (DO NOT set required else it'll auto boot and wipe them all ) Steve

My current work place got hit by lightning a few years before I started and basically it was a full network rebuild via insurance (that's direct hit not via internet), but basically I'm not convinced there is an answer to "full protection" as such at normal budgets unless you have a blank cheque book Bearing in mind that the replacement would have been via insurance company etc I can't see anything "new" that's been added to stop it happening again, to reduce their payout chance, as I guess it's deemed such a small risk in the first place Steve
