Good Morning All, We're testing Bromcom and I was wondering if anyone has found a way to do reports that include automatic pronouns and the change in related phrasing? As an example something like "She is doing well" would become "they are doing well" now I appreciate the She/They would come via the preferred pronoun field, but is there any way to make Bromcom automatically choose the "is/are" etc (Similar to something like "He has done well" vs "they have done well") etc Steve

It's definitely not Smoothwall related as we get the same via Sophos as I was doing this earlier in the week. For example MediHealth Gold use Sendgrid, and to resolve the issue we've stuck: ^[A-Za-z0-9.-]*\.medigold-health\.com Into the Don't Valid Certificate style area in Sophos. It seems to be the site URL you need to use rather than send grid to resolve it Might be a nicer regex you could use, but that seems to work and haven't had much time to test it further this week - So if you just wanted to test it quickly as an example Steve

It's not an additional cost really. Doing M365 A3 is just a replacement for the old OVS licensing for Office packs/CALs etc unless ofc the school isn't paying for licenses! - Obviously I'm not saying its the same pricing, depending on your staff/computer layout etc, but it's not something brand new that a school shouldn't have money assigned for. For example the last 3 schools I've worked at all saved money going to A3 over individual licensing via OVS+CSP Steve

From my understanding unless you're using the fancy aspects like storage spaces (or specifically for backups/large storage sets) etc there is no major benefit to it currently. You then also need to consider whether you can "officially" support it, as it requires server catalog hardware to be fully supported similar to storage space direct etc Even if you check Microsoft's own scenarios for it (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/refs/refs-overview#supported-deployments) it's basically Storage Spaces, Backups and basic disks (that have software that implement their own software resiliency and availability solutions) In terms of the horror stories, that was earlier REFS I would say it's a lot better now in terms of reliability Steve

Haha sorry Loosely that isn’t a problem, you can add the Veeam Agent to a physical server to add it as a backup target to Veeam without it being a VM to give you the other features you’re missing from doing a file share backup It’s just the technology is different, file shares don’t do full/incremental like that to be able to rotate (at least not that I’ve seen previously) It’s always a incremental via CRC check so if it can’t find the CRC file I assume that’s where it’s complaining Might be worth trying that way to see if that helps with the rotation as shouldn’t need much changing with the agent instead Steve

I appreciate this is kinda bypassing your actual post, but is there a reason you’re doing a file share backup at all? That’s not really designed for a Veeam as you can restore files directly via the VM backup so there little purpose having a file share backup (that’s more for external NAS etc that isn’t structured files) File share backups are only forever incremental and work differently with CRC which I’m guessing may be your issue Steve

From my understanding it's basically re-releases that include the roll-ups (The new way the updates work since the last "fix" was that it views the full file and only pulls what it needs down etc) 10B being Date revised: 31 October 2023 11B being Date revised: 14 November 2023 12B being Date revised: 12 December 2023 etc As that's the full feature update, rather than the short enablement patch, the idea being it brings the machine up to the latest version without having to install extra updates after it. We had similar on some HPs previously, and for some odd reason the "karaoke mode" was automatically turning on in sound options when building computers. This muted a lot of the sound by default, so would be a good place to check to disable all those kind of options and see if it improves Also, silly things like testing if you have "When windows detects incoming communications activity" set by default to have sound cut down a lot, as that's been issues previously Steve

As you said ruffle is open source but it’s also the main “alternative” I’ve seen Personally I’d just fire this back to the teacher to get updated resources, jokes aside why add a potential security risk if you aren’t happy with it just for poor planning of resources Considering flash has been EOL for 3~ years the resources can’t be that required to have not asked previously If it’s a one off they want to access them to convert/re-write you suggest they do it at home etc *Edit - Obviously if you realllllly want to be nice, you get Adobe animate and convert it all to HTML5 for them! I haven't tested it yet as we're just doing our 23H2 image currently, but have you tested blocking it via AppLocker? That's my next route to attempt Then it wouldn't run even while installed. You can't anymore in the latest version, unlike the previous builds, it's part of one of the "feature packs" that includes things like start menu, new file explorer etc There have been lots of complaints about it with a general MS response of "maybe we'll change it later" Steve

It's only really for iOS/Android etc As you can't monitor them "fully" with local clients, they work by passing their traffic via the VM, which effectively decrypts the data, recreates screenshots etc via packets blah blah If you only need it for Windows/Chromebooks etc you don't need that Edit - Official wording: Steve

On-going Adobe bug since Sep-23 release. The "mainly working" workaround seems to be to disable "Enable PDF thumbnails in Windows Explorer" currently, but lots still report other issues using things like protected mode still does the same. If I'm honest that sounds more like a bad/wrong configuration if it's happening that much. Even something silly like Apps being deployed per user without delivery optimization (rather than per computer), having Teams automatically installing per user, or having OneDrive automatically downloading their files (rather than Files on Demand) would make a huge difference in terms of what it's using Just logging into an AzureAD account shouldn't be using that much bandwidth and certainly not for 15-20 minutes - It's more Mbs for policies etc after the initial installs (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/network-bandwidth-use) Steve
