We got 69 smart 60wi. Had the same thing happen many times over the last 3 years. Two yesterday in fact. Every time replacing the lamp did the trick. Simple job just two screws.

I take it back re Microsoft support. 80 minutes on the phone and no further forward. Couldn't get across to the guy that I have 6 private groups and this student can see one of them. Another student we tried cannot see any groups, although they could search form them. Even searching and clicking on the group they could not see the members of that group. But the user with the problem can only see this one group and see the members of it, staff email addresses. They cannot search for groups. Thanks though I have now hidden from address list. Cheers

Morning All I have disabled all staff and students from creating groups. I then created a few private groups and assigned a staff member as the owner. I also added staff as members of the relevant group. Students have a separate GAL, if it makes any difference. Helping a student this morning get logged into office 365. I went to mail I could see under groups one of the private groups I had created. I could click on it, although I couldn’t see any of the content of the group I could see the staff members names and email address of the group I could ask to join and see the email address of the group. I would like to stop the group being viewed in the first place. The other groups I created do not visible. I have checked this group against the other I have created and can see no difference. I can see no difference between this student and any other student in regards the policies applied. Any pointers?

We only give teachers read access. I'm sure the exam bodies would not be happy with teachers editing students files and hay possibly doing the work to obtain good grades and thus making the school look better

Just experiencing the same issues with my kit not being listed on Fortinet support site. This is a bit of a rant really. I needed a part replaced a while back when it was still Meru Support, no problems, no extra coats involved as we have hardware support. Now need another part replaced with Fortinet support, which was shipped yesterday but we was expected to pay Duty / tax on delivery. Is this the norm? Early next year I will be looking to rip out the Meru kit Cheers

Afternoon, This is beginning to drive me mad. So student A tries to log into a PC and gets "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". Student B can login ok. Student A can log into another PC ok. Student A does not have a profile on that computer. and yes I have made double sure there is no trace of them in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList The only way round it at the moment appears to be a OS reinstall. Maybe I could put up with that for the odd domain account, reinstalling the OS, but I now have a laptop by the side of me doing the same thing but with a local administrator account. I can logon as a domain admin. I have tried to create a new local account something completely different but this still gets "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". HELP :-(

Bit later than I had hoped but here is whats going on for me, just trying to fix it for another user now, in fact I have recently move staff emails to office 365. I appear to be having random problems with staff trying to use Outlook 2013. This is in an Active directory environment, withredirectedAppData and profile paths. So the user(s) are logging to their PC (windows 7) as normal. they then fire up outlook. It goes through the autodiscover process, outlook opens as it should. After a PC reboot and logging back in the same user will try and start outlook again. this time I get the error. "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log no to Microsoft Exchange has failed." I then have to go though various things to get it connected again. I delete the user AppData, delete the local profile folder, delete the users outlook profile. Sometime I have to repeat this action number of time for it to work. Other times I have run "outlook.exe /resetnavpane" which had intermittent success. Once I have it working again it will fail at some point. Some other users do not have the same problem

Should the very worst happen though I would end up in a coroners court being asked "did you do all that you could to prevent the death" Currently and in all honesty I would have to say "no". Im my previous employment i was in the coroners dock being asked the same question over a death of someone i hardly knew. Trust me i felt guilty as hell. its something i would never want to repeat. Its the safeguarding team that always bring the students to me :-(. I have tried to get them to do it, allowing social media through the web filtering to their PC's. But they end up calling me anyway. Think i'm going to push back harder to the safeguarding team and refuse to do it. As i say i'm not going in the dock again. Cheers for the replies.

Morning, It is increasing getting on my nerves. We have all social media things blocked for students and staff. My PC as admin does have access for emergencies. I am constantly and increasingly getting asked to allow access for students to facebook, instagram etc by the safeguarding team so the students can sort out their little spats, remove inappropriate pics they taken of themselves, delete the latest fight video etc. Given that most of these students are below 13 so should not have social media accounts, I just wanted opinions on whether you report the accounts you know to be under age. cheers

I used it as quick setup for NAT between a transparent proxy and main network. Simple and works a treat. Did plan to replace it at some point but don't see the need as its been rock solid. It's only the free version and the free web filtering is ok as well.

I have got all of my students email addresses into sims (section 4) of student details. Some are marked as marked "primary", some "home and primary" and some just "home" Anyone got a quick method to mark them all as "home and primary" maybe and SQL method? Cheers

Just come across this tool. Must have been living in a cave! I trying to import students email addresses. My test student imports ONLY if I leave the 'main' field at default. What should the spreadsheet contain in the 'Main' column when its imported? is it a '1' , 'yes' or 'y' Do I really need to set it as main? only reason I am trying to do it is because the all the other student records contain it.
