E-Petition: Stop Holiday Companies Charging Extra In School Holidays

I spent months and months attending meetings, advising management what I thought would and would not work. Now management have come the point, after spending huge sums of money, they are doing the things I suggested. I am getting a LOT of stick with them saying why didn't you tell us type of thing. I am just glad 99% of my recommendations were put in writing. All I want to do is a good job. It must be just the place where I work :-) If anyone can give me a job give me a shout !!!!

Take my advice, do your research, use your expertise. I'm sure you know what will work and what will not. Make your views widely know, write it down pass it on to one and all. When they / management ignore the advice you have given them and go down a very different route and try to suck you in to cover the poor choices you can sit back a wait a few months and then implement what you said in the first place. Cover yourself, cover yourself.

If schemes like this are such a good thing for education then the results must be measurable. The exam results would be the best indicator. If the results show no discernible increase then efforts / money should be pushed in a different direction. More good teachers with smaller class sizes. As others have said small class sizes have produced better results. If you owned a business with profit as the driving factor, you would never introduce something without clearly defined expected outcomes which have measurable impact on the said profit

I would posit that a well motivated, well trained, respected by SLT group of teachers, good management of school, good governance would produce a far better set of results than any intro of *shiny* kit. There are many schools that are top in the country in terms of results that don't have shiny. They are are doing something right. Poorly run schools, have a higher turn over of staff. How unsettling is that for students.
-
I would like to see the exam results of schools that have 1 to 1 iPads or other device pre and post there implementation. Has the cost in the back end wireless, switches and cost of devices brought about a big annual rise in results

Our place wants to start doing this, outside of school hours, weekends etc for income. Any of you guys doing this. We have EES agreement, so this will not allow external people to use office and Windows etc. I have been told there are some various licences I can purchase to cover it use, which is fine as this can be got back for the hiring of the computer suites. Do you use published desktops / virtual machines? Do you allow USB sticks with all the potential viruses etc. Any thoughts would be great Cheer

Don't necessarily see this as a bad thing , take on board the extra work and cost but they are dealing with young minds, teaching them to become the leaders etc of this country and world. The heads and SLT should also be licensed to become managers. An outstanding teacher does not necessarily make a great leader

HI Before I start Great product. I'm using v9, IIS 7, server 2008 R2. Got HAP installed. Added user home drives and our shared area. I can browse / upload files. but if i highlight a file then select open form the top menu the screen keeps refreshing without anything ever being displayed. I have reinstalled .net 4 This happens on IE9, 10, 11 Safari, chrome. so i guess its to do with the installation Any pointers where i can start to look to resolve this problem. Cheers

This is strange. We have exchange 2007. I have a user that when he turns on his out of office people that email him get the auto reply he sets as they should. But whoever emails him gets s copy of an email that is no longer in his inbox. so in effect when you email him i get his out of office and the rouge email. I have watched him set this up on the outlook 2013, can see nothing wrong. I have checked the settings in OWA, the out of office is switched off. There are no transport rules on the exchange server. Any offers of help would be appreciated Thanks

Being told that we now have to do lunch duties
ozydave replied to StampStudy's topic in General Chat
I'm sure there is a law about how many hours you can work without a break. Working time directive or something like that. Your untitled to your break even if they pay you. -
Another vote for Helix. The video library is great
