Hello all How many of you hand out laptops to people on the governing body to keep with them 24/7? I assume I cannot use a licence from our schools agreement for OS and office? Surely this would break the schools agreement license. Any pointer wold be good. Also would you allow them admin rights to install their own software? Cheers

Removed all profiles (roaming an mandatory) from students some months ago not looked back. It's been a dream. Everything redirected via gpo. To remove old cached profiles on local machines look at delprof2 -works outstandingly well. Now wonder why I struggled for so long. Almost forgot what a student looks like with no profile resets :-)

Another one for papercut. Fully print managed by Riso. They have been great

Roaming for staff at the moment. Did have roaming for students, but now moved to no profiles. Best best thing I have ever done. Redirect everything out. Been a few months now and not one problem. We use delprof2 in a script to delete profiles on local machine. Remember delprof and how rubbish it was, well delprof2 blows it out of the water.

That will be great news

We had probs with roaming profiles corrupting all the time. Lots if laptops which get switches off during the log off corrupting the profiles and allowing access to app data which then got copied back. Have now removed the profiles paths from AD, folder redirection of everything including appdata. Slightly longer login, but a whole lot less than a broken when the profile. AppLocker blocking everything now including any exe being saved to c:\users Made a big difference to the number if problems login issues

Yep does have a freeze function. No wonder no one found it. On the remote control you need to press the 'hide' button the wait a few seconds. Strange I know

Pearson onscreen platform installation woes
ozydave replied to IT_Man_Dan's topic in Educational Software
Thanks I turned the firewall off completely on test station, teacher PC and admin PC and server. It is the tdpclient data folder in local app data folder causing the problems. Spoke to their support who confirmed it. Cheers -
Pearson onscreen platform installation woes
ozydave replied to IT_Man_Dan's topic in Educational Software
What a pile of ...... Just setting this up. First hurdle was the sent me the wrong admin password on the email. Just took a guess at what it was. Got the server, admin and Invigilator all working. the came the Text platform Every time someone runs the test player it needs a manual configuration. Thanks to this forum now know why. Who in their right mind stores the config data in 'TdpClientData' Just trying to think of a way to script copying this from a central location when the test player is run. Maybe should not expect to much as Pearson do Successmaker!! -
I think it can do one or two OUs but only if you have exchange 2010 or above
