But as parents can / could login to Show my homework do we need to get concent from students (13 or above) to allow their parents access to their data Cheers

Hello, When it started happening to me I found on the web lots of strange and long convoluting solutions. What I found worked for me was to reset the permissions on the ‘Default’ User in c:\users. I still get it every now and then on a random PC a random users will get the error message other users are unaffected. Below sorts the problem everytime so far for me. If you can, login as an admin, go into c:\users\ Unhide the folders if you can’t see ‘Default’ Right click ‘Default’, click properties, click ‘Security’ tab. Click ‘Advanced’ then click ‘change permissions’ Put a tick in “Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object” Then click ‘apply’ I then use ‘delprof2’ to clear any profiles on the computer. Hopefully it will do the job for you, All the best

It can be done. I have mine in separate Address lists. Staff can see the students Address lists, students cannot see staff. Students can email staff though, but that you could control with mail flow rules. It was a long time ago when I separated the lists but I'll have a dig in my documents to see if I can find my notes on Monday. Can only be done with powershell

Thank you. It does seem to have sorted itself out this morning! I run the command in my first post this morning and all reported 4, which is normal! There was no errors in the event viewer and the troublesome folder had gone! Guess DFS has self healed. Will be keeping a close eye on it for a while. But at least I learned more. Every problem is a learning opportunity [emoji3]
