Have you done the research into SCCM it needs a bit more resource than those two do, yes it replaces them but worth planning carefully.

How about if Google don't keep changing things without telling everyone in advance then people wouldn't play catchup. They are a bit like Apple they like it secret until as late as possible, they have made a lot of changes of late to Google again and that changes how things work and have to be done so I'd say that is a little bit of a harsh comment when Google is out of the hands of Smoothwall and other filtering suppliers they just have to badger them / nag them / wait for them to tell them what they have done to adjust and update the product.

You can have all 3, well 2 now with 2012 licensing as its Standard or Datacentre with 2012. You need to look at what you have bought on your agreement before you can go any further really as you could be not correctly licensed. If its 2012 you have licensed and you have got standard you are entitled to run up to 2 VMs on two CPUs with it. How are you licensing Windows could be the first question? If you have Standard or Enterprise Server licenses then you are limited to the number of VMs you can run, if you have Datacentre that removes that limit so its then have you got the hardware to run more VMs If you have the capacity for splitting roles up why squash them together was my view so each role had its own box near enough so if say a print issue occurred, worse case is we had no printers but the rest of the LAN was fine, where as squash roles up you could have 3 or 4 services offline at the same time. Our Xen hosts were licensed for Datacentre which then meant I could run unlimited VMs on those hosts and was great, want to test something fire up a VM and when it stays no licensing issues to worry about

Nope as your Smoothie should be set to require auth on that main LAN and thus unless they auth against it they won't be going anywhere fast anyway... As has been said you will need it for VLANs so it can work its way around correctly and without it breaks so many things that it really is a must have.

Sounds like you have sussed it either RAID Card or backplane that has the HDDs on it has failed. Do the HDDs spin that you can hear?

Would agree a PCL5 driver may solve that I had a lot of issues with some HP Colour Lasers on 6's and some older Toshiba copiers and swapping back to 5 solved all the issues.

SQL can be added to your EES agreement, it isn't however part of the Core Desktop pack that most people get which is Windows, Office and a basic set of CALs. AFAIK you will need SQL Licensing (you can do it per CPU or per user or per device get the costs and work out the best value for money) and then CALs for SQL as appropriate. It will become ££ quite quickly I suspect.
