Meet my girl Roxy, we rescued her after seeing an advert on Stuff4Sale, we went to visit her and she was running around a council estate so we would have taken her anyway as the owner then didn't give a monkeys, she's been with us 4 years now and she great! She's good security and she's very well behaved, and Roxy and our daughter absolutely adore each other!

All routers are layer 3 Any decent Layer 2/3 switch will do VLANS as you need them, If you look at the likes of Cisco and HP you'll find plenty that will do VLANS - pretty easy to setup and configure.

GPO's here are done by department, for Sales we have different GPO's for software installs, internet properties etc etc and the same with other departments, we even have GPO's by group so that certain groups of users have certain policies. We have the Staff groups then we have Staff GPO's for installs etc.

Hi all, Wondered if someone can help! I've been using Cobian for backing up my user profiles and our network share, this morning for some reason Cobian will not under any circumstance backup to the location it's been previously backing up to, I've tried changing all the options etc and nothing is working I just get errors on the main page. It's only folders / files I want to backup to a network drive. So Cobian isn't working and I have no backups for the past week, What do you use to backup files / folders ? What I really want is something that will backup to a network drive, as files / folders so I can browse / search through if someone looses something! Ideally I need something free - I'm temporarily using FBackup but it backs up to zip, not easy to search through! Any ideas anyone ? Thanks!

Ive been away for a few days cabling up our new building... only to come back to my office and find Outlook wont connect (OWA still works), every phone in the building dead and things on my network seem a bit "flaky" Apparently we had a power spike and since then things have not been working as they should........ This is going to be a fun day! PS - Anyone know why Outlook is now asking me to accept certificate again ? - Weird as my certs don't expire until 2016... something to do with the power spike ?

Id give Sky a call see if they can resolve the problem, I have one of the black Sky+HD Boxes not sure of the make maybe Amstrad... and now and again it looses everything in the TV Guide & Planner.... only unplugging and plugging back in rectifies it but it does make me twitch a bit as it gives me a dreaded amber light for 10 minutes after unplug.... box is only 11 months old and got a call from Sky last week asking if I wanted to take out insurance as my box is no longer under warranty...... Wish I had now.!

Been there myself too .... failed my CCNA by 2 points and was gutted took me weeks to pick myself up and carry on... even though I failed it I still managed to get a job in networking and I've learnt more than Cisco could ever teach me..... It's all about getting stuck in and being confident and having oodles of patience, and what youve got to do is when you think the job is at its lowest inject some fun into it by learning something new, I've been bored doing the same thing day after day and had considered a change in career but the truth is I love it.. it;s hard wired into me...... If I get bored I go on ebay looking for books on various things in IT like BIND for example and JUNOS, and will put a lab together and learn! I think its therapeutic.....

Alternator in Ford Fiesta..are we being ripped off?
cpjitservices replied to sidewinder's topic in General Chat
the voltage should be about 3-13.5 when charging, when I was a mechanic we used to use scrap alternators all the time 9/10 where fine as where other second hand bits. Personally if it was my fezzy on a 98 I'd be thinking about changing the motor especially if I'd had it a while, could be a sign of other things about to go wrong. -
Thanks @dhicks... I've actually placed an order with LinITX.

Anyone using vSphere for their servers in a school?
cpjitservices replied to Awx's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
VMWare here and we had VMWare at a college I worked at, it's nice and easy but can be expensive. Really easy to get VM's up and running and easy to install and configure... However I do use KVM / oVirt on my Virtual Hosts too, when we get new servers we use oVirt or KVM now instead of VMWare.- 32 replies
