right, Well they have no estate, they dont even own the car that they have (mobility) and there belongings are not worth alot. So does this mean that it'd probs get passed to me ?

A bit morbid I know but I need some advice, some members (inlaws) of my family who are now in there 60's have been getting loan after loan after loan, shoppaccheck, banks, private loans etc etc. Im wondering where I'd stand that if the croaked and left all this debt behind (well over 5 grand) would I be the one liable to pay it all back ? For Management VLANS we usually use a subnet for the correct number of devices +10 for expansion, same for the servers VLAN although generally these days we use /24's on server VLANs, PC VLANs we make the same size as users, if we had so many users and machines we would create VLANS with the right subnet size for users. Guest wifi is /28. We manage fine, Makes it easily manageable.

I dont know if any of you have IBM Flex Series or x3500 series servers but they take an age to get past the post screen, It's really annoying as on some of out blade servers UEFI is enabled with legacy mode. Some versions of Linux want Legacy only so this means you have to go all the way back to the BIOS to change the settings - It's annoying and takes longer to build a system.

Have you got multicasting enabled on your switches ? I've found that having this disabled slows down imaging, I have seen it on ghost - WDS doesnt seem to have the issue. I think I've seen this issue on FOG too.

Doesnt need POE nessecarily, the cams are powered from mains, they have both COAX and Ethernet but we are going to use Ethernet. Yeah if you can tell me what you've got that'd be great!! I do need something a bit quick sharp, ebay is ok but I want a more reliable source!

nothing special, something cheap and cheerful... it's only to connect to some IP Cameras - for testing reaally. 8-12-24 ports, 10/100. Preferably managed but not essential!!! What have people got and how much ?

Hi Guys and Girls, Im looking at building a network for someone, it's going to be located in there basement and Ethernet to every (yes I mean every) room, IP cameras will also be going onto the switch. He's been offered an HP Procurve 2610, These are very good switches but how power efficient are they and has anyone any idea which switches are the most efficient ? I'm wondering whether switches use the full potential of its PSU 100% of the time or whether they scale up on usage ? Anyone got any ideas / opinions ? TIA.

Would Subnet Zero not work here, you could use the same IP but put both IP's on a different subnet.... That would work.... Wouldn't it ?

Best way to do Cisco also is get yourself on ebay and grab yourself some bargain switches and routers.... then Have a Play!!! I have done the CCNA, I still have my home lab which is now getting sold due to house move, but if it wasn't for the fact I had actual hardware to play with it'd of been difficult to do the course. When you sign up for Cisco courses you also get a "Simulator" called Packet Tracer 5, but you cannot do half as much in that as you can with actual hardware, alot of the commands are missing and you dont get the full feature set. So my recommendation is .... IF YOU CAN BUY SOME HARDWARE! To start off with CCNA, a 2950 Switch and a 2600 Switch will be just fine! (Preferably two of each if you can get them for the right price)

Several options we use at the moment, I'm using fog but I am wanting to implement partimage (Linux's own alternative to GHOST) and its free, I also have WDS as a backup. I do miss Novell Zenworks Imaging though.

We use openvpn here, simple to setup and to use. We have Linux LTSP running also so people can dial into the LTSP clients and use Office etc.

Couldnt find the Linux download, I dont have a Windows PC.

Has anyone got Fedora 18 booting via USB ?? Can get live to work but I want the full DVD ??? Ta in Advance!

I would give everyone a machine of each if I could but I dont have enough machines, it's all about trying to save money. If I can get away with just purchasing Office I would. I need to get 7 aswell as some people here will not use anything else, So If I could install a Linux system for the users and have them remote into a 7 VM that'd be better and easily manageable... It's all about trying to save money. TBH, I dont really need Server 2008R2 as we have Samba4 running here and it works perfect. So I just need 7 and Office. Preferably I dont want to dual boot, Ideally I want to be able to manage the OS on the oVirt server. If they kill windows I can spin up a new VM, instead of a machine out of action. Anyone any ideas ?
