  1. Cisco is expensive, we have gone with Asterisl/FreePBX here and we are using handsets from our old system (Talkswitch) which work perfect.
  2. We use it mainly for everything also, the latest version has seen some long awaited improvements.
  3. Not sure of cost for you, but I've just got a quote through for volume licensing (Windows 7 but need to get 8 licenses now apparently), for schools I believe you can get EES License which is fairly cheap. For 1 10 license VLK (Win 8) its come out at £1,117 for me. I am using a local re-seller.
  4. Well I'm actually looking for something like Alfresco, Version control is a must and maybe inline edit. Ive never been able to get Alfresco working especially with CIFS browsing. Ill take a look at nofolder see what it can offer.
  5. I use Bozteck for rolling out VNC to desktops / servers. I use Remote Desktop on Windows servers and VNC on Linux servers, To access RDP or VNC I use Remmina as my admin machine is Fedora.
  6. I would usually only use Xen/KVM/oVirt or ESXI free for virtual servers.
  7. PfSense is also web based, abit like a router. Check out some of the videos on youtube. I've implemented what your on about in some coffee shops and bars using pfsense. It's free all you need is a system (virtual if needs be) to run it on.
  8. pfSense Open Source Firewall Distribution - Home
  9. PfSense will be perfect for this, you can even bang on captive portal so that users have to authenticate first (or not). Pfsense can server DHCP / DNS on its interfaces and also runs proxying IDS/IPS. We have pfsense at many sites running squid transparent proxying. We just plug out access points into a switch which connects to the guest interface trunked with the guest vlan for wifi.
  10. Id check to see if this is a layer 1 issue, check your cabling between PC and Wall Sockets, and check from Wall Sockets back to the switches. If you have an Ethernet tester then test your cabling. Also - what about DHCP logs ? is your network dropping IP's briefly for some reason ?? Where are your IP's coming from ? Check lease times etc. Could it be a dodgy nic on your server which serves DHCP ? When you say looses contact - does that mean the PC actually disconnects from the network or is it still connected but cannot talk ?

    FOG & LTSP

Hi guys, I'm running FOG at the moment for deploying win 7, works a treat but theres one or two things I've been playing with over the last couple of days that I'd like to fix. A) I'm trying to boot a Fedora Live ISO from the FOG Boot Menu, gets so far and stops me saying "Missing Operating System" B) I'm also building an LTSP Server and my main aim with this one is to have an entry on the Fog Menu so when I select LTSP it'll start booting live from an LTSP server (hosted on a different server) Below is what I've put in the defaults file under pxelinux.cfg for Fedora. LABEL Fedora 18 Live kernel memdisk append iso root=/dev/ram0 initrd=/fog/FED18/Fedora-18-x86_64-Live-XFCE.iso MENU LABEL Fedora 18 Live Image TEXT HELP Linux Fedora 18 ENDTEXT And here is what I've got for LTSP: LABEL Linux Terminal Server Boot KERNEL memdisk append tftp:/192.168.24.8/ltsp/i386/vmlinuz initrd=tftp:/192.168.24.8/ltsp/i386/initrd.img ro quiet splash Neither of them seem to be working properly, does anyone have any ideas ? I'm sure I've done the config all wrong!! Thanks in Advance!!!
  13. No Spanning-Tree will only block a link when it detects a switch loop. Have you checked the IP's of the adapters make sure they get assigned the right IP...you mentioned VLANS - is the VLAN between the server and clients being trunked properly ? and can other devices on the VLAN ping the server ? and also are the clients on the correct VLAN ? are the correct ports assigned to the VLAN it might be that a few ports arn't in the correct VLAN on the switch.
  14. +1 for WinSCP - Aslong as SSH is enabled and allowed through your firewall you should be good to go!
  15. Sounds like a firewall issue somewhere ? Have you opened ports on the server and clients ? or temporary disable it see if it makes a difference. Also it maybe worth running Wireshark · Download to see whats happening.
  16. Has anyone got ANY Juniper kit for sale / donation / price of shipping ? I need to get my Juniper lab finished..... Its for home study and I cant really afford to spend alot more on kit. I'm mainly after an EX switch or a J series router! I've looked on ebay but its way out of my price range!! If anyone can help... That'd be great!! Thanks.
  17. Havent tried it.... Im going to re-flash and wipe the caches.
  18. Not sure of which CMX10 it is .. i Have just reflahsed to CM7 - nothing but unexpected errors and force closes...
  19. I have cynanogen mod 10, its crap... cant get the camera to work at all I have A HTC Desire. Where did you get the files for 7 ? Id rather flash downways and get my camera working again! Ive no idea on the email thing though sorry!
  20. Basic VPN server perhaps ?
  21. Squid + Dansguardian / PFSense.
  22. It's that complex to setup that I cant get CIFS to work... everything else works fine. I even have LDAP working so users can login.... what I'm trying to achieve is to be able to map a drive when the user logs on to the Alfresco Share. I can get a login box to appear but credentials dont seem to authenticate and the login box pops back up again once credentials have been entered. I also can't find a log anywhere that shows any errors. Has anyone setup Alfresco or have a clue what I'm supposed to do / look for ? I can post configs if needed. Thanks all.
  23. Yes, It was actually Zenworks Imaging but with ENGL over the top thats maybe why ours worked since its just a network boot. https://www.engl.co.uk/Home.aspx
  24. I've done this, and in the end we re-imaged all the machines, you'll also find any other Novell apps you have on there may brake if you remove Novell Client. We literally made a brand new image (network of 1500 PC's for students and 1500 Staff) and rolled it out on sections of the network. Things like NAL dont like having the Client removed and anything to do with ZEN and App deployment seems to break. Alsthough we never had a problem with Zen Imaging.
  25. Thats worked. Thanks muchly!!!!!
