Yeah your right you couldn't do the HOSTS file as these are mobile devices, access lists / firewalling is gonna be the easiest way I wreckon.

Listen out for the fan cutting in more than usual or a lack of power due to the engine getting too hot. Also, after every couple of journeys pop the bonnet and look at the header tank and see if the water in there is bubbling/boiling, if it is it could be a sign of the head is going to blow, if you do see bubbling - very slowly and I do mean very slowly release the cap off the top to release the pressure and heat, keep water levels topped up.

Although upon reading your post again that wasn't what you asked for was it... durrrrr! Maybe you could point a firewall rule in there so if google.com is requested then it will forward the traffic to a different site/server.

If this was me, I'd build the new VLAN and just allow the firewall rules on the wireless to only those specific services, if they want access to the LAN then you either have to VPN in or use the Captive Portal to authenticate. In fact we do just the thing using PfSense, our wireless is wide open, but you cant actually access any service until you login through the captive portal. Once you've done that you can access certain sites like our Business Portal, OWA and thats it.... if you want Internet and LAN Services you have to VPN in. So if you wanted google.com to point to a different page you could do it so a rule would send those requests to another server.... All free - cost us a spare machine....

could you not just block team viewer website or the link to the download into your filters to stop them from accessing the site altogether ? As for actually blocking the file I'm not sure why it would not ask for privileges, although there is a version of TV that doesn't install you can just run it so maybe that's why it didn't ask for elevation.

Is the link between the 2 switches marked as trunked or tagged ? You'll need to tag VLAN 2 to that link to be able to pass down the traffic.

Id keep any eye on the temperature gauge, if it rises astronomically all of a sudden then it could be a head issue, but it is more than likely moisture build up. Vauxhalls have a tendency to do such a thing. It's worth keeping an eye on.

Win 8 DISLIKE - Why? Because it's absolutely horrible. I dont like - the design I dont like - the way it sounds I dont like - the way its different when there is no need for it to be different I dont like - that I cannot find anything I dont like - the thought of spending many many man hours showing users 'where things are' when In Windows 7 things where easy to find. I dont like - Metro or anything that slightly resembles it...... I absolutely hate - that stupid welcome screen! I'm trying to build a new DC, I want t so that my old domain can be logged onto through the new domain. So I'm trying to setup a trust between the 2 DC's, I've got setup a "realm" trust type as this seems to be the onlt option the Trust Wizard gives me. Both trusts are created on both servers, but I cannot log onto a user account held on my old domain. Have I missed something here ? Thanks everyone!

OK so I go to shut-down the server this morning (before anyone is due in) to extend drive C: on the main AD Server.... I have a formatted drive attached to the VM in VMWare, but in no way shape or form will it let me extend drive C:, I get the option to shrink but not extend... In VMWare if I click the drive all the boxes are greyed out even when the machine is powered off. In one of those boxes I should be able to edit the drive space and the start the VM and extend the volume. But it's not giving me the option! Any Ideas ? TIA

Same but that server dies, so I am now using the built in web filtering in Sophos Endpoint - Not very good but will temporarily do the job until I get my DG Box back up again.

to rejoin machines to the domain - when we migrated from Novell to AD we built a brand new win 7 image which joined the new domain on installing Windows in WDS. Once the machines had rebooted they had a fresh copy of Win 7, Office etc and where on the new domain. No messing about. It was quicker than rejoining all our machines to the domain manually. All our users could login, had mapped drives, printers etc etc!

Yeah - I like the idea with the Micro that all the drives are loaded from the front of the case (unlock the front and slides drives in and out) which for a data storage server is great! - But the bigger HP I think is better for a more permanent solution especially since I'll be hosting sites. So for more storage I'd get a another mini - but for my sites and VM's i'm going to migrate everything over to a bigger server. Also the RAM is easier to upgrade on the Tower. CPU load is fine, it doesn't miss a beat - check out my site at ey-computerservices.co.uk - it works great and this is hosted on the mini, the site is pretty quick. Running TOP via SSH and CPU load is barely anything.

I'd do what I did when moving over from Novell, build a new domain in AD, set up trusts between them and migrate everything over. Easiest way.
