Thanks all, Nokia is now gone and have a new HTC Desire - WOW! What a difference in my opinion it's far far better. I can get along with the OS a lot better.

Why not just go to Richer Sounds and grab a Cambridge Audio amp with some half-decent speakers, will cost you about £200 and you'll have a system which will do what you want - you'll be able to have your headphones socket, rotary knob, PC and Xbox plugged in at the same time you'll just need to change the input selector. Exactly the same with me I told them I run Linux in my house and nothing was running Windows and that I was indeed also a Microsoft Systems Manager for an ISP - it didn't go down too well. All I get was a load of abuse on the phone and like you say wouldn't hang up the call. Wasn't a nice person to deal with, next time I'm going to let them into a VM let them remote in and trace there every move and even trace their IP. Hopefully we will catch them one day.

Agreed. RSYNC over VPN would be the best idea. Would be incredibly slow though depending on the size of the things your backing up! Especially if your only going through an ADSL connection.

The biggest problem with the Windows Phone is you have to use Zune to upload/download anything... Zune is the worst ever... worse than iTunes.

I have got A new Nokia Lumia 800, got it on contract on O2. It's a Windows phone. Thats really all I can say. It's responsive and quick, possibly even more so than an Iphone..... but I HATE the way the interface is laid out to find anything is horrible!! I want Rid, I'm looking at the HTC Desire - Anyone got any recommendations!

If im scripting a file / folder copy in the script I usually add a drive mount, and then once the copy is finished do a "net use * /del /yes" or only dismount the drive im copying from. I hope you get what I mean, It seems to be the quickest way I've found of doing things like this. I have a logon tracker that does just this except it writes to a log file rather than copy a file. So when a user logs in the drive is mounted then the logon details of that user using variables like time, date. machine name, user name etc are all added to the log file and its all done that quick the users never see the mapped drive, and if they try to access it they cant anyway. Hope this helps.

Also 3G dongles at the best of times are rubbish! I had one for all of 2 months... constant disconnects and really slow speeds it was like going back to dial-up! Although it's better than nothing.

Yes, pfsense can run virtually - we have it on VMWare here and I have ran it on different Virtual Platforms in the past. For testing you can use VMWare player or Virtualbox - it works on both.

We have a VPN here with 100 users on it, just set one up this morning also at the same company with an additional 50 users, We use a free routing platform (PC Based) called PfSense, it has OpenVPN built in and the console is all web based, very easy to setup and configure - infact it took me 20 minutes to setup the VPN for all of our users and never had an issue with it since. VPN Capability OpenVPN - PFSenseDocs PfSense Open VPN Tutorial (with Narrator) - YouTube it even has the OpenVPN Client export utility which is very nice, it basically creates an installer for each person then you give them it and they install it and that's it, they open it when they want to connect.

I have JUST burnt win 8 pro and stuck it on a machine for users to play with see what they think... played a little game actually "Who can find the shutdown button quickest?" .... not many people could find it thats for sure... many struggled to actually get to the desktop. I dont think I'll ever be rolling this out on my network...
