  3. or you could use a Juniper... EX2200 are very good stable, solid, switches, and can do stacking with Virtual Chassis. The Hp's are awesome bits of kit too, especially with lifetime warranty. I just love the EX2200 though.
  4. Have we got anybody here who is a partner for VMWare, I need some information about VMWare cloud services and need to know about products so someone in sales would be great!!! Anybody ? Thanks all.
  5. Sounds like it could be the connection back to the switch, or maybe a duplex negotiation problem ? Are you running gigabit or 10/100 ?
  6. What switches do you have ? Have you got spanning-tree enabled ? and also could be a faulty cable, could be a faulty cable from the PC to the wall or from the wall to the patchpanel and from the patch panel to the switch. You might have to trace your cables and try and change them see if the error still occurs.
  7. I use my Fedora (linux) laptop when I'm DJ'ing or I am doing a mix, typically I use the Mixx application. It's free and simple and I think better than VirtualDJ Mixxx - Free MP3 DJ Mixing Software
  8. Have you turned the Windows firewall off on the PC's just to rule that out... or if it's off already turn it on.. ?
  9. Could be some form of interference between the floors ? Try one of the laptops on the same floor right next to the AP.
  10. Is it an NFS Share and are you using Windows 7 Pro ? IF you are 7 Pro wont mount/map an NFS share.
  11. Hi all, I'm currently planning to relocate back to the North East in the next 6 months to a year, I'm currently in Hull. I need to relocate for family reasons so will need to leave my job here. Does anyone have any vacancies for a teccie coming up or know of somewhere that will ? I have previous worked in a college and now work for an ISP, I'm looking for an IT Technician / IT Engineer role or even Network Manager. Is there anyone who wants my CV ? Thanks in Advance everyone!!!! Have a good weekend! Chris.
  12. +1 for DNS, also I thought Procurve 2610's were managed ?
  13. Currently using Sophos but I find it a huge PITA, not very informative and flags a lot of stuff as malicious when it's not. I've just finished my trial of ESET, looks brilliant, Remote Administration is a doddle!!! Just need to get some decent quotes now
  14. FIXED IT! in Pfsense - Next-Server = IP of Server bootfile is= boot\\x86\\wdsnbp.com\000
  15. I am setting up a new VLAN to separate Servers and PC's as they have been on the same VLAN for a while now, so I've created the new VLAN and all is well except for WDS, my machine will get an IP via PXE DHCP (DHCP Server is pfsense) but I get the error message: TFTP Access Violation.... If I switch my port back to the old VLAN WDS works perfectly! Anyone got any ideas ? I Have rules in pfsense and on Windows firewall to allow communication between both networks. TIA.
  16. Netgear Readydata (http://www.netgear.co.uk/business/products/storage/ReadyDATA-family/) are quite good for SAN, or if you want flash storage try ... Nimbus Data: Leader in Sustainable Storage® We use Nimbus.... It's fantastic!
  17. Well we are an ISP, so - we need them for customers. I was just enquiring just incase someone had a spare range! We have an IPv6 range but we can't use it at present and I've only ot a couple of IPv4's left!
  18. Does anyone have any spare IPv4 addresses to buy or know where I Can get a /21 ? TIA.
  19. I Use to teach CCNA, and banned Packet Tracer, it's a simulator and has loads of commands missing and I can guarentee that is one of the ones missing, the routers in PT don't actually run CiscoIOS it's all just a simulator but not a very good one, for the real experience use GNS3 and add an IOS image and do it that way, at the academy we had GNS3 on all the machines and used it regular... Far better than packet tracer! I always said to the Students... Dont use Packet Tracer unless it tells you to do so for certain labs as there isn't a full command set!!
  20. Robocopy or if your a Linux fan... Rsync.
  21. We have the AUP before the login screen, clicking 'OK' is acceptance of the AUP and you are taken to the login screen. The background we have is the standard Win7 one, I'd love to change it to the company logo but the back ground would be white, as would the text at the login screen and I'm not sure how to change the colour of the text. We have a globe in our company logon and I have managed to get it to appear in the Icon box on the login screen whether someone logs in or not... Don't ask me how as I can t remember!!!!
  22. Go into Advanced options and under firewalling turn off the firewall, this will make pfsense "Just a router". "
  23. LOL - trust me theres no "iffy" pics!!!!
  24. MY EPIC STORY FOR THE DAY, I thought this was a genius idea. Went into Boots with SDCard only to find the photo machines wouldnt read SD Card, so we thought dammit. Anyway went to pound shop to get some blank CD's to go to the library to find SD Card reader to copy from card to CD and put the CD In the machines, anyway the library PC's didnt have a reader. SO... Went to Tesco to try there machines and same result wouldnt read SD Card and also would not login to facebook to print photos direct from FB. SO we think dammit... But then my brain switched into "Teccie" Mode, went to the laptop section, found an unlocked laptop with WIndows 8, put in memory card and viola up come the photos - very quickly grabbed a blank disc (from the pack I bought from pound shop), I must say at this point Tesco had disabled all the touchpads on the laptops so had to do this via keyboard, opened explorer.exe via run, scrolled down using arrow keys ... Selected all (CTRL+A) and hit the right click button, Burn Data to CD...... Hit that - up comes Nero I hit next and burnt the disc, this was the quickest disc burn ever known to man kind... it needed to be this was a display laptop, and I was expecting someone to say "Can I help you sir" but no one luckily... anyway disc finished burning ... closed Nero and Explorer, ejected card and disc, and went over to photo machine,,,, up come the photos and hit Print.... Saved me a trip home to burn a disc, thanks Tesco.
