  1. This was created in sites for a primary school https://sites.google.com/a/herstmonceux.e-sussex.sch.uk/herstmonceux-church-of-england-primary-school/ The staff and pupils all have separate logins that take them to work areas.
  2. Just seen this Google Apps update alerts: Manage Chrome policies from the Google Admin panel About time.
  3. Nice to see someone from Croydon. Lived in Warlingham, Purley, and Croydon. We are just about to look in to purchasing printers so will either post back our printer findings or will use these posts to choose one.
  4. Last load of laptops have all been Samsung. They come with free 5 year rtb warranty which BT business will upgrade to next day onsite fix for £20. BT Business Direct - Samsung Series 3 300E5C Titan Silver Core i5-3210M Win7Pro 64-bit 4 GB RAM 500 GB HDD 15.6" (NP300E5C-A0CUK)
  5. mat40k you gave an answer but have been bashed for your point of view, which from my primary school point of view fully agree with. I would move on.
  6. Even MS say they do not meet the EU regs - EU demands answers over Microsoft's Patriot Act admission | ZDNet
  7. I think that can all be controlled in the admin panel and can be set based on OU group etc. Not used this feature myself so could be off the mark but found it under settings / gmail settings / routing which brings up a list of routing settings. The ability to apply the settings to a group must be new as I have not seen that before but I rarely go browsing around the admin panel.
  8. depending what you need to achieve, Google Apps for Education is free, has good support both online and by phone, has unlimited amount of websites you can create from pre built profiles and the system would also extend to other possibilities such as email, calendars, documents sharing, AD integration and a tone of apps.
  9. Have you had any issues being on the rapid release? I wanted to train some teachers how to use the forms so might give rapid a go.
  10. We are on scheduled but it says the release is delayed by one or two weeks after rapid. Nothing is listed in the google calendar for the forms update release.
  11. My personal google docs got a forms make over back in January which made form creation way better but this has not materialized on my schools Googgle Apps for education system. Is their a way to force this out or is it being held back for all Google Apps Ed users?
  12. The secondary school down the road from me is completely Google cloud based but I have no idea how they are finding it.
  13. My schools use gapps for email, sites, calendar but docs is only used for the governors, everything else is in-house.
  14. I had an odd issue when RM changed an IP address of their server. I needed to remove the old ip and manually add the new one in DNS forwarders. Not much of a dns wizard but it may help.
  15. I always refuse the phone upgrade and ask for a discount on my bill. I get 300 mins 300txts unlimited internet and massive discount when abroad for £10pm. Then get a phone online cheaper.
  16. Forward to about 10mins to get real life usage demo.
  17. In fact even taking the battery out and rebooting just boots you back to the learnpad software. So I guess you would need to remove the battery, hold down some buttons, boot in safe mode.......... Sound like the remove cat5 cable during boot to stop gps applying that we all lived with.
  18. How would you do that? The only way I can think of is removing the battery and then getting it to reboot, but if the pupils are doing that you need to ask your self just how much time do you put in or if these are a good device for your school.
  19. if you are talking about the learnpad - LearnPad Software - Store - LearnPad
  20. I think the learnpad blocks the power button along with everything else. They offer a software only version that you download or a pre built (hardware and software) version, both are android based. Why not do what I did and download the trial version and put it on one device and have a play, that is what sold it to me. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/netbooks-pda-phones/109835-learnpad-very-impressed.html
  21. You might want to look at LearnPad - The Tablet Computer Designed for Education as you set the screen and apps up online and send the finished themes to all the devices. You can mass install apps and totally lock them down. They do a trial version for you to download on the site.
  22. I have RDS setup on 2008r2 for a few staff but in the devices and printers folder it lists lots of redirected printers. The laptop they work on is used in school so has all the school printers but these get listed as redirected and local printers when working remotely from home. In some cases the same printer is listed as a local printer and then as redirected (1), redirected (2) and so on up to redirected (5), this is the same for all other local printers. Is it possible to block any school printers from being redirected but allow the staff to attach a home printer which would need to be redirected in the remote desktop. Does that make sense?
  23. pre order at Amazon Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games Odd that it is only old consoles.
  24. not as good as this one bloody funny
