You might want to look at the GP preferences / control panel / scheduled tasks. It has options like 'run weather a user is logged in or not' 'run with higher privelges' Would have thought (but not tried) that it must be possible. Also not sure what /f = (Forces the chosen action) would do which is part of the ShutdownTool.

Just got shutdownTool up and running I noticed in the task scheduler you have the option to run even if nobody is logged in. I need to work how to only get the software to run when in school and not if a teacher takes a laptop home. Any ideas?

I am trying do download Configuration Manager shutdown utility but the site says I need to log in. Anyone got the software? or tell me how I log in.

@sted Thanks for the info and a very handy script.

I had issues installing 11 from the downloaded files on the site but got given a CD which works flawlessly. No proxy issues, No ink issues and boot speed seems fine.

OK got it working without errors but I am back to the same issue I had using the older script (forum page 1) in that in AD under the computer description only the first 60% of the fields get listed. If I look in the logs/pc file, all the fields are listed. The only way I could fix this previously with the older script (forum page 1) was to delete some of the fields from the script such as processor. Before I go and delete anything from the new script do you have any ideas. Cheers

(Think I got everything) - Install server OS - - run dcdiag and netdiag on old server to check for issues - check old server event logs and fix errors - -Join server to domain - - check dns get replicated - check sysvol gets replicated - install wins role - at theis point I would leave for a while and then do netdiag / dcdiag and check for any errors - up to this point your old server is still the main server - Transfer the roles to the new server Transferring FSMO Roles in Windows Server 2008 - Backup dhcp on old server -install dhcp role on new server and import -Go through all dhcp settings and make sure things like DNS are pointing to the new server - you might need to authorize dhcp - check client computer gets new dhcp settings - use network for a while and when you are happy demote the old server.

Finally got round to trying sted's code out above and it does everything except list the last logged user. When I list a computer it has all the details like serial number, memory, OS version etc but not user info. Can someone else confirm my findings as the forum title says otherwise. I am not able to change the code but can see some lastuser references so it should be working. UPDATE: In the AD computer description field at the far right of all the computer info is the word 'Last' and then nothing. Looking at the code it looks like it should say 'Last Booted' followed but last user logged on.
