  1. BT have started or had started to force ip6 only at some locations but lots of users complained they could not play online games with consols.
  2. Going to have a play with the duo at PC World over the weekend. duo comes with a processor and mem upgrade for free before the 9th sep.
  3. The hinge on the flip seems to add a lot to the thickness when in tablet mode. The Samsung ativ Q looks much thinner to me.
  4. Bit confused, on the Sony UK site it seems to be called a fit but the images of the fit do not show it folding to a tablet.
  5. duo vs flip ? Both look good.
  6. KITKAT Me thinks they are going to run with this one.
  7. sorry wrong link above Sony Vaio Duo 13 review - Hands-on - Laptop Hybrid
  8. They still have it listed on the Samsung UK site and all the news sites say it has not been confirmed from what I can see. If they do moth ball it what is everyones thoughts on the Sony VAIO Due 13 http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/120928-advice-laptop-tablet-hybrid-2.html#post1051406 It even has a Sim card slot for 3g.
  9. My primary schools all use Google Apps as the VLE and We created Google sites to hold all the content and apps. Its the only system I could get the staff to learn as it is so simple.
  10. Also Primary schools should be teaching email to the students and should have an internal email system like the one 2 simple sell for KS1 but the Google one when restricted to internal Domain would be good.
  11. Do all your pupils log in as a year group or do they all have individual domain accounts? If they are all the same (Year1, Year2) you can create a shared folder in docs, call it 'Year1' and then chuck out the link via a bookmark from GPO. Then all the users can have access to a shared 'Year1' folder in Docs without the need to email a shared link.
  12. ooops plus it is 13 inch
  13. i am wating for the samsung ativ q. it is laptop, tablet, windows and android.
  14. yep, all the schools in my county run sql on the domain server.
  15. Not what you are after but I would not use the standard gp proxy settings in 2008r2 as they do not work for IE 10 clients. I would follow this post http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/110567-ie10-proxy-setting-windows-7-a-2.html#post999643
  16. no, sorry, can not find it.
  17. I read a post on these forums and it was cheap. I can not remember what the forum was about but will try and find it.
  18. just found this Collapse in illegal sharing and boom in streaming brings music to executives' ears | Music | The Guardian but it was a discussion on radio 4 the other day

  20. Actually we have just had the biggest drop in illegal downloads ever. Mainly due to the mass take up of streaming services.
  21. I get this lots. In fact fixed one today. remove pc from network (make workgroup) delete pc from ad re-join domain. works.
  22. except in my case little johnny is only 6 years old and does not know what a vpn is what an ISP is.
  23. let the 1% who have passed their flying lessons fly, and for the other 99% they can be looked after and flown around the world by someone that does know how to fly How does hitting a no button intrude on your liberties? and for those poor children who have parents that do not give a sh*t they will be expossed to images that might send them on a path that is rather dark and twisted. I am trained in IT and will be choosing to disable the filtering and use my own filtering but my sister who is not trained in IT will be very grateful to have some filtering for her children even if it is only partial, as partial is much better than nothing.
  24. Yes but if the magazine shop came to your sons bedroom would you not want the xxx mags removed from the pile before your son gets to view them. And do not say the parent should be the one to remove the xxx mags as 99% of parents have no idea how to stop internet porn being viewed by kids.
  25. Not something I would do. I think Microsoft have a list of things that can be deleted from the DC c drive safely. If it was me I would be working out a way of re sizing the disk or rebuilding the server so it has lots of space.
