  1. Do the Nexus devices normally come out in the UK play store at the same time as the US or do we have to wait?
  2. When anyone tries to print photos using the right click print system it totally kills the spooler service on the server. This is only an issue on the Windows 7 laptops and works fine from XP. I have tried to get the teachers to use an alternative software but they always forget, which then means nobody can print until I have reset the spooler which is not always straight away as I look after other primary schools. I have searched google but other have said to update the drivers, which I have done. The odd thing is it does this printing to any printer including the main Ricoh. PLEASE HELP as this is driving me nuts.
  3. I will probably get the N5 but would have really liked 3 or 4mb internal mem 64gb extra mem and 12mp camera.
  4. My wife can seem to speak wasp and will ask them to leave the house. Oddly they always do.
  5. We have lots of the false funnel web spider in my garden. @Sunny how much do you charge to come and electrocute the little buggers or is it just a hobby you will do for free?
  6. 1. use servername not ip 2. if that fails use servername.domain.lan or whatever your lan is 3. if still fails check dns
  7. On of my schools has a phaser and we had lots of odd issues. It turned out that some settings hidden away in the drivers need to be changed from the defaults even if using the original ones supplied by zerox. Annoyingly I can not find the info but do remember the PS driver is best, notifications needs to be turned off which is in config, bi-directional com. Some setting about how the driver communicates (raw) etc needs to be changed but just can not remember. I will post back if I find the info.
  8. This is why we get samsung laptops from StoneComputers as they take on the support. BTW never remove a samsung HDD it will invalidate the warranty.
  9. Keep mine even simpler in primary schools Make + serial So something like SAM-AEUG1U That way if it is getting moved to another location I do not need to update the name.
  10. I think @sted created a script that uses AD to gather the same sort of info when anyone logs in on the domain it adds the info to the computer account in AD and also had an option to create a spreadsheet. If I can find the forum I will add a link as it works very well.
  11. just had the same issue but every other page. At first I did not see how anything could be jammed in the machine as 1 page would always print but eventually I did find a small piece of wrinkled paper inside and it worked fine after that. Not sure why one page would go through fine but it did.
  12. Any of these Templates of use https://drive.google.com/templates?type=docs&q=newspaper&sort=user&view=public#
  13. Apologies in advance as I have not really answered your question but I have found that after giving a demo to 5 different primaries of office 365 and Google Apps all prefered the Google system as they could move the paid website, VLE, mail etc to a system that is free. Office 365 does most of this for free but not all. The biggest reason given by the primaries was that the Google 'Sites' system is integrated with the other apps like Docs, picasa, calendar etc and that Sites was so easy for the teachers to use. Sharepoint is a pain in the ... imo.
  14. sounds odd. At all my schools (primary) all laptops / desktops will always be on the domain, even if used at home so I have some control over them, like virus checking and updates. That can do planning on them and then bring them in and they are ready to teach without any flaffing around.

    Capitalism

When I was on holiday in New Zealand I was listening to a radio show about how the Government had rejected an unemployment back to work system (you get benifits for a while but then must get a job or get reduced payments) as they said that for the economy to work efficiently they required about 6 to 8% of the general population to be unemployed that way when a position becomes available the company not only has a healthy bunch of candidates but the position could be filled fast. They said that if everyone was working who would fill the job vacancies. Got to love the New Zealanders.
  16. Focal camera app removed from CyanogenMod, launched as standalone beta
  17. PM me some info how I get Cyanogen on my stock S2. Looks very good but getting a bit lost.
  18. Does your school not have a server already. Most primary/small schools use the DC server for sims along with all the other server roles. That would save you £900 at least.
  19. MOst of my primary schools have moved over to laptop trolleys. The teachers find they can incorporate ict in to other lessons as they can bring the laptops in to the class. Still on Windows 7 pro and still getting Smartboards as the cost of a flat screen TV + smart licencing is just a bit out of reach.
  20. Just found these crazy instructions for removing the toolbar in 2010 http://mikemcsharry.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/completely-remove-sparklebox-toolbar.pdf
  21. I very much doubt that the current version is the same as the one I tested, which was a few years back, but who knows.
