Just one more point, the EDU version is not the same as the free version but is part of the business version which is not free but a payed for service used by Banks, Governments and even some local Authorities.

Might be worth looking at the T&T for the edu version and not the public version as your info is completely incorrect. They even give you options to completely disable all adverts and scanning from in the admin systems, which are set no adverts by default.

Thanks for the info. I have updated the windows section to reflect the storage size issue but the slow running software issue is not something I have added. Not only can you buy a hybrid with an i7 intel chip but you can get them with ssd sata combos etc. Even the Asus book T100 which only comes with the Atom processor can still run Dirt 3 ASUS Transformer Book T100 (Baytrail) - Dirt 3 - Game Benchmark - YouTube I have just ordered myself a Windows Hybrid with an i3 chip + 128gb ssd. It is not a beast of a machine but I will only be using word and a few internet sites.

I am trying to create a pros / cons list for tablets and hybrids being used in primary schools, taking into account the fact they have limited funding and already have a Microsoft server and Microsoft curriculum software on site. I have decided to keep this thread just on tablets or windows hybrid laptops as this is the information I am being asked about in the primary schools I work in. If a section is not listed on my pros / cons list it is probably because that information is not relevant to me or my schools. Just tell the ICO Data Protection and Freedom of Information advice | ICO.org.uk and they will update the school details to show that data might be held off site. Over the course of this year all UK schools will automatically be added but until they have done that I would contact them just to be on the safe side.

I am going to create a new thread and see if I can lock this one as it is pointless having the important information 4 pages in but I am not 100% sure what to call the new thread . It will need to be something generic so the info can adapt over time. Something like Pros vs Cons for all Main tablet types / OS's. Any ideas?

I am almost ready to share the Gdoc but wanted to answer some posts on this thread. No and yes. You can download the software for any Android tablet but they will not work with the dashboard section on the learnpad website which is used to remotely monitor all the learnpad screens. I think this has something to do with needing root access and a slightly customized OS which would come if you purchased the official learnpad tablets. Thanks for doing that.

Should have properly looked at your reply. I am coming at this from a primary school point of view and think most of the basic stuff they will need can be accessed just from the Modern interface.

I am going to create separate lists RT, Standard and pro I will remove that info but not 100% sure I agree from an OS point of view. Battery bit removed but will leave memory upgradable. Thank you. I have removed the info.

Good point. Does anyone know if I was to install a different launcher from the play store would that class as locking it down. Until I get an answer I will update the Android section.

Again the buyer can choose to buy one that does allow the battery to be replaced. I chose my last phone based on being able to change the memory and battery.

Thanks for you post. I can choose a hybrid laptop that comes with the option to change the SSD drive or add memory although I agree that lots do not allow this. I will leave the I-Pad info but update the other sections

Just realised the transformer T100 is Windows 8 and not Windows 8 pro. Am I right in thinking Windows RT is different from Windows 8 which I know is different from Windows 8 pro.
