I have a Tasker task that automatically enables Bluetooth, turns up the volumes and plays some music when it detects I am driving in my car, the only issue is every once in a while it turns everything off when it thinks I have stopped moving which is a pain if I have just stopped for a few mins for some reason. I need to create an exit task that checks if I am on a phone call or playing music before it decides if it should run the exit task, but I have no idea how to do this bit. Anyone using Tasker that can help.

Take it this is a primary. Do the LA not use some kind of filtering so a normal search in Google is checked. Not sure why they have an issue with a school using Google search as any other search engine can also return iffy stuff. Schools should not be relying on safe search as a filtering system and should have a decent filtering system that can filter all sites and search engines.

EDIT- see above post. I had no idea you could do that. Why not give them all a separate account? Sharing of information such as calendars is what Google does best. Google Apps for Education is free for your school. Google Apps for Education | Official Website and very easy to set up.

@sted created a script that could take lots of xml files with computer info in and put it into one csv file. It was something like this, put the above in a bat file and run in the folder with csv files. I seem to remember if your first csv (01.csv) is just the column headings but without any info it will make a nice form with headings. otherwise pm @sted

No info in DNS on server but this is not an issue for windows clients. Do I need to add it? if so, how? Another thing I have noticed is I am not able to enter a * in the proxy bypass and the espresso address users a ~ symbol which I can not enter. Espresso gave me these to try http://10.???.???.???/~espresso http://cachepilot/~espresso

I am trying to get an Android device to open our Espresso website which is internally hosted. If I use http://name/name it says the page is not available. If I use the ip address it just hangs for ages before closing the web browser. I have entered the proxy settings and the bypass info. Anyone got this working.

Just realized that the length of time a product can be looked after from a warranty angle would be very important in a Primary school. I can get 5 year next day fix onsite for a hybrid Windows laptop from Stone for only a few quid. The most they will give for ipad and most Android units would be 3 years on a return to company basis. They will do onsite next day fix for Samsung Galaxy and Toshiba tablets but that will cost a lot.

Tablets in schools...which one and why?
edutech4schools replied to Little-Miss's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
We've looked at windows, androids and apple. It looks like we are going for iPads purely because the apps are better. Are you secondary or primary. Also all the app devs I know are in the process of making the apps OS independent. Same app will be created for all platforms. -
When do we (UK) get Nexus 5 4.4.1 update. Apparently it fixes a load of camera issues.

Next year the primary school curriculum will need to include coding. For KS1 & KS2 this is partially based around 'if' 'or' and 'variables' etc. Android has lots of apps such as the famous Tasker App http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm that can be used to create event sequences with commands. The best thing about using an app like this is it's also used by lots of people in the real world, myself included. Can anyone think of any iPad apps or windows apps that would also cover the same curriculum area?

Tablets in schools...which one and why?

I have always used the web based system to control and push software. Never even noticed you can do some of the bits from the device itself. This goes over some other bits but might be worth jumping to 6 mins or so. http://youtu.be/cDnrUUy3eSE -
I was running out of virtual disk space for a VM running in windows 2008r2 so followed the info to add some more space, Shut down vm Click Edit disk choose to extend disk size All this seemed to go ok, but when trying to restart the VM I get a list of errors, the chain of vm disks is inaccessible, error opening hard disk further up the chain, The size of the vm is not valid, Any ideas why this has happened and if I can fix it without needing to restore from a backup?

A few years back I used Windows help system to create a searchable database with pics etc that would work on all Windows computers without any extra software being installed. Today I use Google Keep for quick note taking and a combination of G docs and G sites to share any info.
