  1. Google apps for Education can do this. We use the forms all the time. I also have my jobsheet as a Google form attached to the schools website and on a network share. Bloody handy and soooooo easy to use that even the teachers can use it.
  2. Google apps for education has forums that you can control from the admin panel and no adverts + free + has all the other apps for free such as sites.
  3. This summer Google are working on Play for education which should allow staff to deploy or restrict apps. You could also look at LearnPad - The Tablet Computer Designed for Education they sell the software seperatly and give you a website that you can install apps and change the profiles etc. I downloaded the software for a trial and was very impressed.
  4. Android + Google Music + Bluetooth for wireless connection to car stereo or home hifi = GREAT
  5. Last year in New Scientist I read that cyber criminals had started to create their own internet. We will all be watched while the real criminals simple get around the security.
  6. Recently upgraded smart notebook from 10 to 11 at a primary and some of the documents they have created in vs10 do not display all the images they embedded in the doc. For example the user created a smart document with some jpg images they downloaded but only 40% of the images come up in v11. Anyone else had this issue?
  7. I found two settings that told the client to wait for network during login did the trick. Not at school so not sure which group policy it was, but it was a simple fix for me. I can post the info on Monday unless anyone can jump in.
  8. DNS gets created or copied when you run dcpromo. From server 2003 onwards all domain controllers are the same, you do not have a primary dc etc so when you run dcpromo on you second server and create a DC it copies dns, sysvol, Group policies and active directory over to the new server and it is an exact replica of the first server. You two domain controllers will automatically talk to each other and will make sure they both hold the same info for dns, sysvol, group policies and active directory. This is a good way of keeping a live backup of your dc. When you say making sure dns is pointing to your new server are you talking about your clients being aware of the new dns server? if so this is done normally by the DHCP server role which the clients use to find the DNS server, Gateway etc. You could manually type the new server dns settings in to a client computers network cards IP settings and test. NB. in the network card adapter settings on both the servers, in the preferred DNS server you have the IP for the server you are on and in the Alternate DNS server you have the other servers ip.
  9. One of the main reason a school of mine went with Gapps for Ed and not Office 365 was that sharepoint was OTT. SLG not even an option for this reason.
  10. YAY, Google have just released the new updated forms to all GAPPS for ED users.
  11. Hi, I have just noticed some of my primary schools have IPv6 either disabled or set to obtain address automatically. Not a great issue as internally everything is working fine on the old IPv4 but I think it is time for me to understand IPv6 and setup an IPv6 dhcp scope on the servers. My first hurdles are in the adapter protocol properties page, -how do I choose a static IPv6 for the server -Should the subnet length be /64 or something else -how do I workout the IPv6 gateway address which is LA controlled. Sorry for what I would assume are very basic settings but I have never needed to touch IPv6.
  12. They could on a few machines that had been set up by LA, but not anymore. Another bios idea. If the hdd sata settings had been changed from the default, say AHCI was disabled or ATA was set as the default and then the OS installed, if the bios for what ever reason is not holding the user settings anymore and reverting back to its default, you might experience the issue you have.
  13. Not always the case. I use inkjets and toners and if you buy a batch of toners they will send you a free printer. It is not very green because if a printer in the school dies I just order a new batch of toners and replace the faulty printer for free.
  14. Have you checked the bios. I had a pc that a pupil had changed the drive mode to udma or something like that and we were stumped for ages thinking it was a motherboard fault. We got no error message, just a blank screen and a power light.
  15. I thought BenQ came with smart licencing as standard . Am I wrong?
  16. One of my primaries (not much money) is looking at replacing the smartboards around the school and I have got costings for smartboards with short throw projectors but wanted to add a different option in to the mix. I have been given a quote for a BenQ TL650 Touch tv which comes in at double the price of the smartboard so will be hard to push these but wanted to know if anyone is using these and would you recommend them over a smartboard given the price difference.
  17. Did you fix the issue. I have not come across anything like that so I would give the creator a message.
  18. Everyone i have shown has loved it.
  19. I have the Galaxy s2. does your car dock also display the thumbs up playlist? I have managed to get the standard playlists in to a shortcut.
  20. No joy so far. I have managed to link to a standard playlist but not the thumbs up one which does not seem to exist in the processes listed by the app you suggested.
  21. So you need religion to look out for each other.
  22. I want a link on my Android home screen that will play all my thumbed up Google music when pressed. When I jump in the car I just want to hit a shortcut rather than having to go into the full music app and backing out of last songs played, clicking on thumbs up. Can I do this.
  23. I thought that if you had the scheduled task set to login as an admin and with elevated perms you could run Coretech shutdown tool when not logged in. When I get a chance I will test, as that is a much simpler method.
  24. I am trying to create a script so I can quickly wipe a print spool folder and have the following simple script: I am running this on the server (will make it work remotely later) but get the following error The spooler does stop and then start and I am logged in as an admin. I have triple checked the x:\spool is the correct location and even given full security to domain users on this folder. Any idea or alternatives
