I believe you will get this if the key has been installed on to more than the allowed amount of machines. Might be someone using you key at home or other computers.

RM offer broardband and you can probably keep all your RM EasyMail. When one of my schools looked in to it and RM offered a very good service for the price.

Not using office 365 but when the mx record get changed for EasyMail you can request the old mails are still available using oldmail.school.... You can still access and forward emails from the old system if needed. Probably not very helpful but thought I would let you know.

This is my first RDS set up and have got the basics installed and tested - thanks to these forums. My setup = 2008r2 server running remote desktop services role with Gateway and session host set up to allow users to connect to the local server. (not full VDI) I have TS CAP set up so that a user needs to a member of a security group and the client machine also needs to be a member of a security group. I also have the certificates installed on the client computer. I was wondering if it is possible to also make sure any computers are domain computers. I have Googled but not found anything. Any advice about security and how to further lock things down would be handy. Should I be looking at Network Policy and access services to further lock things down? Should I be looking at session host / properties / security layer which has 3 settings, RDP security Layer / Negotiate / SSL(TSL1). Currently set to Negotiate Should I be looking at session host / properties / encryption layer which has Low / Client compatible / High / FIPS compatible. Currently set at Client compatible. Sorry for all the questions but even if you can help me with a few settings I would be very grateful.

I had the same issue but the actual cert was correct. When I called them they said it was an automated email system but the actual cert gets created by a human.

If you need to run apps like office, Sims etc then terminal services. If it is just file access then Hap+ or Google apps for education (Gdrive). To install HAP follow the video, the instructions do not make sense.

Now that RDS + gateway are working and users can access the 2008r2 sever as a desktop I am trying to get my head round some of the basics. Installing Software, lets say Office 2010 and Sims. Do I install them on the actual server as a normal install and then are they available for any user that might RDP to that server using RDS gateway? Do they need to be installed as an app, which reading the MS info seems to add an icon to the desktop? Or do I install then logged on as each user? I have not tried any of the above as it will save me lots of time just to ask. Cheers

I got hold of a free ssl cert for the school. I also did not need to do any host files hacks or changes, it worked from home using computer.domain.lan. Going to look at locking it down to only domain computers etc. Might also put the rdp file on an encrypted memory stick. Also going to look at radius lockdown. Very happy I got this far. Thanks

YAY - got it working. Just tested by connecting from home as 2 different users, from 2 computers and all worked. Currently only set up using the default settings from the links in this forum, so will need to look at locking it down a bit more. Thanks to SYNACK for the initial links and sted for simple plain info. Also thanks to the rest of posters.

I did a full re-install of the server OS and that has fixed my first issue.

Our LA also control everything but I was able to upload a file Google supplied to our web space using an ftp client. Do you have access to the admin control panel in Google Apps?

Failed at the first part. Followed this Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop (RD) Services - Techotopia I installed remote desktop session host then to test you should connect from a client using remote desktop client but I get a cert error, 'your remote desktop session failed because the remote computer cannot be authenticated' cert error = 'A revocation check could not be performed for the certificate' 'You may not proceed....' Odd thing is I can connect to an IIS ssl website on the same server and the cert gets authenticated.

Looks like I have gone overkill, Currently I have remote desktop services role installed with remote app manager, RD Gateway Manager, RD Session host, remote desktop services manager, and IIS. I also added the hyper-v role and installed windows 7 as a virtual machine. Think I might wipe it all and start over.

Sorry but I need some more clarification, This is a small primary so not many users. What you have just suggested is 100% what I want. I have this on 2008r2 but might have over complicated the issue. Currently if I rdp remotely to a machine that is already in use it says it will log that user other off, so not what I am after. What would you suggest I do to set it up the way you have suggested. Could you just outline what should be done. pm me if you prefer.

ah I see and will play later. Do I need separate Windows 7 licences for each users desktop on top of the RD CAL that I have for each user?

I have got the very basics in place all remote desktop services / roles are setup and working - yay. I have installed a virtual Windows 7 pro in hyper-v and can connect to it - yay. My question, which is very noobish is, how many virtual Windows 7 machines do I need to install in hyper-v. Can multiple users connect at the same time to the same virtual machine? or do they each need their own separately installed virtual os? Cheers

Thanks for the link. For me it is not about changing their minds, I don't give a hoot what they think or use. My issue is with incorrect or liable information being given out to a lot of schools who would take it as fact and then pass that info on to other schools.

But to say it was not secure and does not meet uk law is not true and has scared a bursar at one of my schools who has requested we use Office 365 and not Google based on this info.

Hi, All the Bursars in our region had a meeting with our LA and another LA about a new broadband system they are rolling out. During the conference they were told not to use Google Apps for Education as it is not secure and the data is not held in the UK. How can they get away with saying this.
