Hi, Some of my primary schools still have office 2003 installed. I have noticed that the right click preview option is missing when selecting a .Doc file but does work for .Docx files. Is this by design? Is it possible to fix?

I ended up using GPP and scheduling a time they shutdown. I have also set it to wait until the computer has been idle for 10 mins which should mean only computers not being used will run the schedule. Seems to be working ok.

After a bit more testing it appears that the password reset box info shown to a user is the default domain password info and not the fine grained password info applied to the user, although the user still has to enter the fine grained password requirements in order to reset the password. So the fine grained password is being applied to the user. How do I get the correct reset requirements info to be displayed?

Thanks for the info. I have just set up a test password police which does work but displays incorrect info in the message box, for example I set min password length to 8 but in the password reset box that is displayed to the user it says the password must be more than 0 in length. any idea?

Our LEA will not give cert even for .sch.uk. Very handy bunch of people they are.

Odd but after replacing the default 2008r2 drivers with the HP / AMD drivers the read / write speed has fallen. I am not able to stream films without it jumping.

ok did a search in AMD website and found RaidXpert software. Only issue is they do not do a server 2008r2 version, only Win8, Win7 and xp. I went for the Win7 but am a bit concerned I am using the correct software.

Just installed the driver from AMD but still do not get the RAIDXpert software like the image above. This is doing my head in.

So is it the driver AMD SB7xx/SB8xx Chipset Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit SATA RAID Driver ?

Hi, I seem to be going round and round. I would like to be able to view and config the raid info for a HP Microserver in 2008r2 os. I have setup the raid using the bios raid setup system but would like some control/info from the OS. Hi, At home I have a HP Microserver. I have been using the 250gb drive that it came with and have just got a second one which I would like to use to mirror the drive already in the machine. Will I have to completely wipe the currently installed drive and lose all info or can I install and set up raid 1 without having to lose anything. Cheers

Hi, I have a computer that was running Winsuite control software but after un-installing Winsuite I have been left with a Gina.dll error. After googling I have found out that this is common (ish) after removing this software and the Gina.dll file controls the logon box. I need to Switch this Gina.dll file with a copy from a working XP machine and make a registry change all without being able to boot in to windows. I was thinking a BartPE style boot cd would work but do not want to spend loads of time building this so wondered if anyone had any ideas for a quick way to access registry and copy a file without running windows. Might be worth PM'ing me so pupils do not get any ideas. Cheers

(2008r2 server) Hi, One of my small primary schools has no password system in place so the staff log on to a machine with very week passwords. I have been over potential issues and they do not want this changed. Recently they have asked me to set up web based vpn. I have managed to get them to agree that if someone wants vpn access they will have to have a more secure password. So what I would like to do is have an OU with strict password policy so I can pop a user in this OU and they will be asked to change their password. I have done some reading and not 100% sure if this is possible without effecting other users on the network. Can someone advice me please

I did mention the server bork thing and the financial advisers reply was a school does not have a loss of earnings in that situation as they are not selling a product to lose any money. The schools have all decided to use LA offsite backup, if that goes pete tong its nothing to do with me. Would be handy to have cover for these as you never know someone else's perception on a given subject.

I am self employed and look after a number of schools and was advised that I do not need indemnity. The reason I was advised this after talking with a financial adviser was that when advising a school about say a hardware choice I am not making the final decision about which company to go for but rather finding a range of companies and passing that info on to the school who then make the choice. Indemnity is not very expensive so should I get it anyway?

Samsung tv's / phones and tablets all have allshare which can also be installed on to a laptop or pc for free. No need to buy another device like WDTV or apple tv. Anything on an allshare device is available on any other allshare device.

I installed it on to the network and then the teacher changed her mind and asked for it to be installed locally. I un-installed and re-installed but was not asked the second time where I would like the database, it simply used the old settings. Not sure how I will get it moved. hohum

We use GPP and its very fast although we do not delete all shared printers and re-install them at every logon.
