Hi, We have 1 server at a very small primary school that runs everything (DC, DNS DHCP). This server has the ip X.X.X.1 on NIC1. When I type ipconfig /all on a client computer it lists DHCP as being on X.X.X.2 X.X.X.2 on the server is NIC2 and assigned to hyper-v. If I disable NIC2 on the server and do a ipconfig renew on a client computer it comes back correct with X.X.X.1 Why is this happening? I need NIC2 enabled for our Hyper-V. Is it something to do with the Hyper-v setting 'Allow management operating systems to share this network adapter' which I have ticked?

Leave the my docs as is but add a new column to show the user name.

let us know how you get on.

You can sign-up and use it for free and if you do not change your current mail MX records or dns records it will run as a separate system without you having to lose your current mail / website while you test. By default when a user logs in they get taken to a landing page that lists any services you have enabled. I built my own landing page for our staff as part of the schools website.

Printer driver versions not the same for all OS's
edutech4schools replied to edutech4schools's topic in Hardware
Ok my next question is how do I update each driver for each OS version. If I go to printer manager on 2008r2 server right click on the printer and choose properties select the advanced tab click on new driver, I get the option to upload a driver but at what point does it ask if its for a 32 bit xp, 32 bit windows 7 or 64bit windows 7, or will this overwrite the 2008r2 driver. -
Hi, Been having a few issues with our printers, see this post EDIT linked to wrong post: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/hardware/98241-printers-causing-me-no-end-problems.html#post853770 I have just downloaded the latest drivers for our Dell 1355cn printers but the driver has not been updated for server 2008r2 to the same version as the xp and 7 64bit. Is it always an issue installing drivers with different versions? if so why have dell not updated all drivers...

Found that it was a DNS name resolution error so entered IP rather name. Then did a w32tm /resync but got the error 'the computer did not resync because no time data was available.' All school in the area are using the same time server, so should be OK time wise. How do I add a forwarder to DNS? -

Think we could do with a primary school forum as some of you seem to have way to much cash to be of much use to me. I would love to be able to get all the equipment listed above but I have to push for a single new server every 5 years and normally get a budget for about 10 laptops / desktops per year. -

I have changed the time to sync with our LEA but the server is 2 minutes fast against a GMT website. I have waited over an hour and running w32tm /query /configuration looks ok. I have also checked the firewall. Any idea why it might not be working. -

edutech4schools replied to Dos_Box's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
So you do not have any windows computers in your school? From a primary school angle I only have time to look after 1 type of OS and while we have a need in the office for windows computers and then a need for AD I will not be adding other systems. -

This is the reason I have been refusing I-pads / Androids in my schools and waiting for a viable MS alternative. I look after some primary schools, we already have a MS server with AD and GPO and all the curric software runs on windows. I do not want to add other control systems or software that will only run on I-pads or Androids and double up on my work load. I agree that if Apple had got in to my schools before MS then it might be a different scenario, with everything being Apple I would not want to change to MS, but MS got in first. Another thing to note is the fact that Windows 8 will also run on desktops, which gives me 1 OS to look after. -

Just before I run your command why when I do a search for time sync do most forums come back with something similar to the following? Do they both do the same thing? -
I have set both servers as DC, and both are GC.
