Hi Paul, Thanks for posting back, would be interesting to know if the post was filled by someone from Edugeek (or someone who read this thread). Not looking for names just an indication of effectiveness. Glad to hear it's filled now, good luck. Cheers,

Used to use the panasonic wireless ones back in the day and they when they worked were great, not so great on video though.

Check the thread you created, some questions were asked etc, good way of finding out if it was received

Did your head provide a requirements specification or anything other than "I want a new website"? Your current joomla one looks quite good, I'd find out more of his request first personally. If it's a new look he's after a theme on the current one might be good enough!

Nick, A pleasure to work with you as a customer and a friend. Your school will miss you as will my team and I. Make sure you stay in touch or I'll have to drop in unannounced and eat your biscuits.

Yep, run in a virtual machine and yes, it just drives esxi servers (via the vsphere) so you connect to it rather than an individual esxi box if you have more than one.

I'll assume you have confirmed you can still talk to the box via RDP or something at that time to rule out a true network problem (I wouldn't trust ping because if it's arp it might still be something "alive" that has stolen the IP). ie, by RDP you can verify the box you're talking to is the box you want to be talking to. Otherwise it might be worth trashing the arp table and then trying to reconnect, I've seen random shenanigans with shares when people have had poisoned arp tables.

So are you saying when it's not working IP doesn't work either?
-
1 nic in the box? Tried via IP when it's failed to rule out dns? (arp happy? (compare arp when it's happy and working to arp when it's not for the same IP))

or dhcp could dish them out but I agree on the messiness. -
Dunno, never had a rabbit except when very young and largely thought it was a cat/small dog, but just wanted to applaud you for your caring attitude. Top stuff.

Cheap Wahl job from Ebay to see whether it'd play nicely and sure enough it's pretty good.

Before you jump in too far think about your backend, if you're going 2008R2 RDS does the device you're buying support the added functionality in RDP7/7.1? Wyse has TCX for improved multimedia (at a cost) which might be of interest. IGEL offers some good all rounder functionality including RemoteFX. Sun Ray offers the most flexible system I've ever found (because you have control at the session layer before the RDS) Axel devices are compact and do the job. NComputing L300's do full screen video that's pretty impressive for the cost of the little box compared to a HDX/PCoIP device. There's so many devices it largely depends on what your needs are, USB, smart cards, etc etc. Well worth looking into seriously.

Hi Matt, Lots of folks on here have their own set ups using a variety of client's to a variety of backends. Before we go any further I would like to just probe you a little bit more on Citrix, are you looking at Xen Desktop or XenApp or more traditional Citrix (ala TS) just so folks can help as to whether you can use 'any' RDP client or whether you need something a bit more special with HDX or whatever. Lots and lots of options depending upon your needs

From memory in Plesk you use Plesk itself to grant the privileges as you possibly don't have access to the MySQL root account to do the GRANT statement stuff. (you may well do if it's a dedicated system, but if it's shared I'd be surprised).

DaveP's started a discussion about this. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/80120-mozilla-building-operating-system.html Interesting.
