Probably not but worth a question of whether you are both connected to a common LEA RBC provision, it would be cheap/easy if they can just route between your two networks at that level. Or, if you both have internet access (at a decent rate) you could set up a site to site vpn that way if it's purely for management of their network but from your post I believe you are looking to bring their whole provision into your network in which case the ideas mentioned above are probably the most viable route. I've seen a few schools with wireless links and it's worked fine so long as they didn't try and do too much over it so I think it does very much depend upon your bigger plans for the set up.

Let's confirm. - Does it happen with the battery only (not using the AC Adapter) - Does it happen if you remove the battery and run from the AC Adapter solely - Can you 'cause' it to happen somehow? - When you applied the thermal compound did you clean the previous residue off and ensure a good tight fit? - Within your OS can you bring up the temperature of the CPU and see it gradually rise (to support a heat related theory). - Within the BIOS you may find a thermal cut off temperature, does this exist? - Again within the BIOS you may find a fan threshold speed after which the same could happen. - Does it immediately switch back on when it happens and if you do switch it straight back does it happen more quickly? Sorry for the lots of questions, just worth provoking some thought around all eventualities.

Specifically what is the problem with it when you use it with 2008? Is it a poor cursor / graphics experience or will it not connect due to security or what?

What problem are you experiencing when trying? I suspect you will need to disable the encryption on the RDP Layer from the server side as being quite an old unit I doubt it is capable of this. There may be some firmware upgrades available, worth contacting support.

Some more information is needed here, if this is an existing SIMS installation then nobody will be able to provide you with details you should have. If it's a new one this might be possible depending upon whether you installed it yourself with fresh data or not. Some more info please in order to help you.

You should know the name of the machine from the DHCP lease if you want to go kill it off + add the exception. Or you could add an exclusion range and pop your printers/APs in there. Might find when everyone's gone home this becomes easier

Could be memory, could be graphics controller. (or given how integrated stuff is these days it could be something else) If they are new machines just RMA it and get a new shiny one.

If you are statically setting the IPs on the printers, APs etc then you could have the pull from .30-200 without dealing with exceptions/reservations that way. If you want the printers, APs etc to pick up their IPs from dhcp then you will set the pool from .10-200 and put in your reservations for those devices.

Sounds like they have write but not append/write extended permissions. Review the permissions on the folder/share for the users.

Is this what you're using on your ones with static IPs? Do those DNS servers know about parkcounty.int? (they look like public DNS servers)
