Hello, Last week I started at a school as an IT Technician. I have been told by the network administrator that due to the way the RM network is set up there is no option to allow an Admin login box to pop up when trying to change settings on a PC such as sound or display settings when logged into a normal user account. When trying to change these settings a dialog box pops up notifying the user to contact the systems administrator. I am finding that i cannot fix very simple issues because of this, and i'm being told theres no way to have the admin box pop up. Surely he can give me the right level of permissions on my user account then enable an admin dialog box to pop up on other peoples accounts so i can change their settings. It defeats me why a network administrator would not allow an IT technician to be able to change these settings, but this guy apparently likes to hold his cards close to his chest. Does anyone else use an RM network regularly and know if this is true. I have been told by external people that this surely can't be true but would like someone who uses an RM network regularly to tell me whether this is correct. Thanks

Hi All, I am in an interesting situation where I am trying to expand my Ip range with Rm Networks. We currently have an ip range set to: 10.141.80.0-10.141.81.254/23 (255.255.254.0) The ip range has been increased to 10.141.83.254/22 (255.255.252.0) Rm Networks says the router is set up with /22 subnet but my dhcp server is set up with /23 (255.255.254.0)subnet I have created another scope with the below: 10.141.82.1-10.141.83.254 /23 but it is not working. we are using a Windows Server 2019. I reserved one of the ip address to use the newly created scope ip address but it was connected to wi-Fi but was not connecting to any of the websites or apps. I would like to use the scope settings if possible 10.141.82.1-10.141.83.254 /23. It should be possible if the dhcp server is working fine with 10.141.80.1-10.141.81.254 /23? Any help or advice is much appreciated as I don't want to lose any reserved ip setting while changing any of the settings. Thanks in advance.

I am currently in the stage of planning to upgrade our network, the question i have is weather to switch to cc4 or stay with our current vanilla network. We are currently running server 2008 with windows 7 installed on most machines. Is there any benefits to switching to cc4 and if so what would they be, the head teacher is pushing towards rm but i am still on the fence about it. Haven't worked with it either, how easy is it to manage compared to a vanilla network? If i contacted rm would they be able to supply a vmware image of the server to see if it is right for out establishment? Thanks

Hi all, We have recently upgraded an IT suite to Windows 10. Prevously, as Windows 7, these machines successfully woke on Lan. However, as Windows 10 this is no longer happening. All of our workstation machines are set to wake on Lan using Impero's Advanced Policy System on port 7. The machines are Dell Optiplex 390, Intel i5 2400 3.10GHz 4GB RAM These are the things I have tried so far; - Checked the BIOS Settings of a Dell Optiplex 390 that is Windows 7 - the BIOS settings for the Windows 7 machine is exactly the same as the Windows 10 machine. - Changed Impero's Wake of Lan port number from 7 to 9 (nine is the default number for Impero's Wake on Lan) - in "Change Adapter Settings" --> Right-click & Properties --> Configure --> Power Management --> I made sure that "Allow this device to wake the computer" & "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" were checked. (I also tried it with magic packet disabled) - In the Advanced tab instead of the above's Power Management Tab I checked that "Wake on Magic Packet" was enabled Am I missing something obvious? I'm not sure what else I can check. I hope I've made this clear and easy to understand - if needed I can provide more information on anything requested. anyone got any ideas? Thanks very much, Nick

Hi I'm after a bit of advice from anyone that may have gone through the same transition. I am network manager at a secondary school that is currently running RM CC4 network. There is a team of 3 technicians and we have been asked to look into moving the network over from CC4 to a windows network. I am about to start drawing up a plan but wanted to know if anyone has gone through a similar transition? Any advice you have? What you learnt? How long it took? How smoothly it went etc. We have about 500 PC's and 80 laptops that we would be connecting up. Also if you are using a windows network any tools / applications you believe are invaluable and found really useful. (Comparitive to the RMMC, RM Tutor etc). We are going to set up a test environment in the school with a laptop trolley. Could this be achieved by setting up a seperate OU on the server and having the laptops running to that? Thanks for any information.

Hi Guys, Typically last thing on Friday our RM CC4 network decided it didn't want to go back to school and stopped letting users connect and disconnected our ICT office from the network. Went in yesterday and fixed the issue with users not being able to login (Problem with some RM services) but our office is still disconnected from the network. The machines are still in AD and checked the switches the ports are connected to are ok, restarted etc but still no joy :S i can't login to our switches as the council have control on them so have to wait until Monday. I also tried the PCs in another room and they work fine so nothing with the actual PC's. The signal lights on the back of the computers are still flashing away so there is a connection but on the computers you can't access the internet, intranet and shared drives etc. They just show the limited or low connectivity icon in the task bar. Any one have any ideas what it could be? Thanks
