  1. Yeah, that's why I said you need to enable the loopback processing to merge so it will run the user side of the gpo even though it's a computer ou.
  2. Hi, The forwarder on the DNS server should point to your router or your ISPs DNS servers. (this is a configuration that basically means if *I* can't answer a question, who do I ask?) - Configure a DNS Server to Use Forwarders On the workstations I'd recommend the gateway is the router 192.168.1.1 and the DNS is your server 192.168.1.2, this can be handed out via DHCP or static depending upon your preference though DHCP is probably easier.
  3. Hello, I expect you're facing pain because it's a script running on computer start up not user logon. If you want to use a batch file, I suggest you enable GPO loopback 'merge' in your GPO for that OU so it will merge the user setting (logon script to run your batch file) with everything else that will be applied as part of the users own GPOs.   4. OK. First thing, don't set the router IP on your server's nic, set it up in Forwarders under the DNS Server Configuration itself. (otherwise things will get a bit fruity internally with funny results). Leave the PCs getting DHCP from the server and passing out the router's IP as the gateway but the servers for DNS. This in itself may fix your problem because the server will now be using the 'router' as a place to look for DNS answers it doesn't know about, so in turn clients will ask server and if server knows it'll answer or it'll ask router then answer. (router will ask ISP, ISP will ask root servers etc). If it doesn't, we need to establish whether from a client first: - nslookup can the client look up a public website (from the server) - nslookup if the above fails, ask the client to ask the router directly with nslookup (server 192.168.1.1) and see if this works. Answers to the above will help us find out who's at fault. Sleep is good.
  5. Hi, Do all computers lose access at once? Does the server lose access? How is the internet connection provided?
  6. I haven't used any of them but notice there's 1GB of RAM in the ReadyNAS compared to 512MB and 256MB in the other ones. There's also two nics on the ReadyNAS and it supports failover etc. Guess it comes down to how much data, how quickly does it need to be backed up, how are you intending on presenting it to Veeam etc.

  14. Looks fine to me, your post says 11:14am here. The time at the bottom of the page says 11:14 also. EDIT: Might be worth checking your profile under Account Settings for the timezone just incase it's not set there, or change it and change it back to give it a kick.

  16. Looks like the machine it's running on might be using 127.0.0.1 for the DNS server and it's not happy with that. (or whatever it's trying to look up is returning 127.0.0.1)

  18. I'm on the 100meg virgin package and it simply rocks. I don't have a super hub, just good ole fashioned modem with docsis3 and all is well. Support is hit and miss, but shouting loud enough gets you heard but I don't feel the traffic shaping and netflix is in frequent use here. EDIT: Oh, I have their DLink router but I flashed it with dd-wrt firmware and it's been solid as a rock.

  20. AFAIK yeah, I think that's the functionality they refer to as GRT (Granular Recovery Technology).
  21. There's a few ways to do it. You could continue doing it this way where you're talking to the guest and using the BE Remote Agent; or the other way is licensing BE for VMware and talking to the vcenter (or) hypervisor(s) and back up the whole VM from that way so you can restore a full VM.

  23. Depends how the team is created, if it's LACP it doesn't mean you'll get 2Gb/s between two points because of how it works. You would find that if you were backing up multiple hosts from one back up server you will use more than the single 1Gb/s link because streams between A-B may go down nic1, but streams for A-C may be down nic2. All depends what the teaming is really. But I wouldn't be disappointed with the throughput you're getting especially from a VM if it's sharing resources with other stuff. Though if it's a VM you may improve performance by talking to the hypervisor instead of the guest, depending on what hypervisor it is.
  24. 2,669MB/min on BE is fairly reasonable all in. I tend to measure a point to point (2 systems) 1Gbit/s network as 'around' 60MBytes/s to be fair to it so that's just over 3,600MB/min flat out.   25. Cool, thanks for that. I'd try having it back up the same 26GB you transferred just to rule out the smaller files as a cause.
