  1. We hid IExplorer from everybodys start menu and set the Chrome browser as default - we didn't have any script issues we just had so many complaints that Office365 was slow whilst using IE but fine with Chrome.
  2. Not really, we've got around 20 iPAD's but they were bought predominantly to use with the online subscriptions that the school bought into it. Some staff use third-party apps but it's not on a daily basis.
  3. Every exam board we have contacted have basically said they are working towards being GDPR complant by May 25th and something will be shared with all customers nearer the time. Literally two lines on an e-mail and that's for the ones that have actually bothered replying...
  4. All of our iPADs use something called Safari more than any other app..... We've tried a lot of others but our iPADs just become expensive research tools. We don't have a lot, but will be looking into getting more Chromebooks then iPADs moving forward.
  5. They had mail issues yesterday when I contacted them as a follow up to a phonecall, but they still received the message even though I received a bounce.
  6. I was under the impression if you used the same e-mail it would be able to match them up.
  7. We've never used equitrac but it was one of the options we considered. After doing a bit of research as people have mentioned above it seemed particularly clunky and nothing seems to be setup out of the box and most reports etc had to be setup manually.
  8. Not particularly answering your question, but I aim interested are you providing a copy of the data you currently hold with the data collection form or have you just created a blank proforma? Two reasons I ask really, how is the information getting to parents is it getting posted or is it going via pupil post? Also, if using the blank proforma method, how easy is it to make a mistake when trying to read someone's hand writing i.e. e-mail address is it a O or 0 and information ends up being sent to the wrong address. I am stuck in two minds what is going to be the best way to do it.
  9. We have a weekly bulletin that is e-mailed out each friday for the following week. Key dates for the diary, annoucements, teaching and learning section etc. It's generally 3 or 4 pages long.... I imagine the front page gets read but not so much the other pages.
  10. We use Chromebooks and will be buying some more and we use Office365 with them, equally as well as a Windows device. There's also Windows S devices now too, but you will need Microsoft InTune to manage them similar to the google management licences.
  11. We struggled to get a list of answers to questions asked. Most of the companies I e-mailed just gave me a generic response back.
  12. Personally, I am not sure this sort of structure works, what happens with regards to staff absence. I much prefer everybody is trained up with as much as possible. Then anybody can resolve an issue it helps with work load etc also, rather than possibly one person being lumped with everything. I guess it depends on the size of the team, job shadowing may work if you go with your model and at least two people are aware of each service responsible. You therefore have a main person, and at least 1 other person in the event of absence etc.
  13. Oftsed report is a strange one, as anybody can just go to their website and download it - so it's not particularly unique.
  14. Not sure if things have changed recently but I setup our google setup about 3 years ago and don't remember going through all those hoops.
  15. We use it here - works better in some subjects more so than others as the teachers have bought into it. We regularly remind staff to use doddle and do demo's as part of briefings etc. The Year 11's do use it for independent study. The roving account manager guy we've got is good and is always happy to come into school and work with staff on various new aspects of the programme as it develops. We bought into it for 3 years with about 18 months still to run - will be interesting when the time comes whether we decide to renew or not - currently it's probably a 50 / 50 split decision.
  16. We used Xibo for quite a few years, but have just gone down the route of Wix websites in a browser - seems more reliable and doesn't seem to crash as often.
  17. You can't be the DPO by name - but I suspect you'll be doing 80% of the work regardless !
  18. We are another happy schoolcomms user, we've used quite a few over the years and this has to be my favourite.
  19. It's a bit strange that Ofsted are hot on staff work life balance, but are hosting a webinar at 7:00PM at night.
  20. I am guessing if your paying the third party for these particular services - your still responsible for the data therefore the fines etc that 'may' follow.
  21. Would the school / LA not argue that the school it facilities are for school purposes and not to carry out Christmas shopping?!? As long as the staff are made aware that decryption is taking place then they choose whether they wish to logon such sites moving forward.
  22. Our users are constantly prompted to resign into OneNote quite often on their iOS devices with RM Unify, but we haven't seen the issue with mail.
  23. Hi everyone, Looking for some help with a GDPR issue… One of my local schools has been in touch looking for some advice on a supplier who has proven to be a bit of a basketcase. The guy is a nightmare, especially as he is based over in Lapland. Essentially: He maintains a list of all the children in the world who have been naughty or nice – I can’t seem to find the lawful basis for him to do this and they definitely haven’t all consented? Getting privacy notices to everyone using his preferred method is proving difficult too as a lot of them are catching alight in people’s chimneys! I am pretty sure he shares this list with his wife and some elves, worst thing is that it’s a physical copy and he takes it out and about with him (there’s no mobile working policy either). He has no retention policy in place and I am not sure the information he collects is strictly necessary for his purposes (who needs to know if someone is naughty or nice to deliver a present?). He has had subject access requests made, but he only works a few days each year so getting them back on time is impossible! He didn’t do a Data Protection Impact Assessment before he started this present giving business – I don’t know how he managed to run it past his DPO, I certainly wouldn’t have green lit the project. I am really struggling to give them good advice. Can anyone offer any solutions? Thanks Andrew
