if you are running stand alone the only thing you will miss by using the free version is the ability to use tools such as Veeam (apparently it works just Veeam arn't allowed to support it.) Most of the features lacking in the free version are the HA and stuff to do with distributed storeage. I'll dig out the comparisions tomorrow if you want.

depends on how much you are willing to spend on it up digital pens to either a sharepoint site or similar may do . You could also use it for uploading notes back onto a machine for builds etc. Welcome to The Digital Ink Company

From speaking with out account manager at Meraki that's not going to happen. There will be references to Cisco on it but it's going to be kept as is apparently. I do hope it makes people look at them a little more now they have the recognition of one of the largest players on the market. You can also manage switches, routers firewalls and mobile devices from the same console. the Meraki website Aaron god awfully slow tho after the news broke!

Meraki kit is excellent from the different systems ive used the management is easy, not bad for a Uni project 6 Years later being bought by Cisco for $1.2 billion

Broadberry will do something like you require but will cost you about £600. Although if you are a reseller and can go direct for parts you will find Hammer make most of the broadberry kit AFAIK and will do the warranty. Alternatively there are a couple of other disti's you can approach who will make kit EDIT: if you go for an Atom based device you can get something for around 400.

Are you going to cluster them? You could then get away with two second hand devices in which case there are loads on ebay.

As long as the wireless IPads and desktops where on the safe subnet and can see each other a normal ethernet connection will work.

If you have pc's in each room next to the projector why not play the IPad through AirServer onto the desktop and then through to the Projector?

Try removing the power switch connector from the motherboard and with a screwdriver touch the two pins together. If you have power it might just be a dodgy switch. Although I have seen a machine do similar when the motherboard was broken.

It does all depend on the Contention ratios with FTTC and as Schoolsbroadband says it might not necessarily be to do with the contention at the local exchange. I've been working with some EFM lines recently and apart from ISP mess ups (assigning the same IP's to two clients!) they have been very reliable. Although the cost might be a tad much for a primary school.

Are you setting this via Group Policy for them to check in with the server? Have the machines been moved OU's and a Group Policy therefore not applying? Toby

As mentioned above it was a driver issue which was resolved via updating them.

In small environments i prefer to have them in one place. You can always steal the roles in it fails. I've also read somewhere you shouldn't run DHCP from a DC for security purposes but can't remember why.
