it might be a permissions issue with regards to the driver - if you try and manually add the printer does it prompt for admin auth?

Yeah not sure I want to play around with it too much incase I risk the data. There appears to be a few companies online who specilise in getting data from these devices so might have to send it off to them.

All depends on how much you are printing. I think speed wise yes 54mbs should be fine (will only suffer if you get very large print jobs but will only be a little bit longer in theory). Its whether the copiers card can keep a constant decent connection to your AP - how far away is it? the ricoh ones come with external atenna buy the looks of it. Although the additional cost of the wireless card of x years (if leasing) it might be cheaper to pay £100 for a cabler to come out do put a socket in.

I'm fairly sure the Ricoh Copiers can have a module put in that supports wireless.

if you right click and select force reload from master does it appear? On the primary dc does the secondary appear as a name server? What is the secondary dc set to in terms of its own DNS settings within IP info? Is there any firewalls turned on?

I know what smart cards are, a few of my clients use them (mainly medical places), but as i say I tend to use the other way. It can work out cheaper for the SMS and you don't need the juniper (it's just the way we use it) - it will tie straight onto windows, OWA, VPN's and Citrix. For this we use a Cinterion MC55I linked via serial to a machine running SMS Passcode which then does the auth. User logs in using windows creds - they are sent a text message with a code and asked to enter this on the screen, they are then logged in. # You can then get a cheap contract sim which is able to send texts and bobs your uncle.

As some may have seen from another thread I have a Snap server which has died, all the disks are present and correct and boot in a alternate machine fine. The only problem with this is that the OS the snap server ran (guardian OS) has no desktop shell or command line from the console. But i cannot access this machine from a web browser or remote shell as the console tells me. I think i will need to try and recreate the software raid array on the machine using a live CD - anybody got any tips/good instructions?? To be honest its more likely to be some sort of firewall then a load balancer, it may well have load balancing capabilities or policy based routing. With regards to the ownership of the kit it all depends on what is in the contract, I supply kit to all our customers, but once they pay for it, its there's we support it and maintain it. Should that customer want to leave we will provide them with all the documentation they want. Any knowing roughly the firms in the vicinity of where you are located I would hope they would do the same, but i know when we have taken over clients the information provided is next to nothing. We regards to ADSL modems the best ones I've found at the moment seem to be Zyxel which are really easy to configure. Also I would put a new firewall device in place which can do the policy based routing/failover (load balancing ADSL can be tricky). Also depending on location they may also want to consider the ADSL lines - does it provide the quality needed with good enough SLA's - should they be looking more to EFM line with ADSL backup (built in redundancy) with proper SLA's??

I've been through the process of removing Laptops at my last place, it came as a strategic move from SLT (of which we were pushing). We put the stats in front of SLT comparing cost and effectiveness and in the end removed all laptops from teachers (and students) and moved to having fixed desktops and areas of staff to work in within the building (staff resource area). Teachers then complained this room wasn't enough so we put the stats in front of them showing that in a room with 15 pcs for them the only 3 times they were all used was during staff training

What i used to do was have the GPO point to a local HTML file which then loaded a image off the server. So on each machine I had desktop.html in a folder on the root of C - for example C:\desktop\desktop.html then a basic html page with img src=\\server\share\image.png and then just changed the image as and when - you could script it to change.
