  1. It has all become confusing and not very well documented. Not to throw daggers as I know how easy it is myself to accidentally break the speed limit but it is all relative now. I have been caught 3 times 48 in a temporary 40 roadworks reduced from 70 34 in a 30 97 in a 70 And my heaviest penalty was in fact the 34 in a 30 (drivers awareness course) and 48 in a 40 because my driving was deemed a direct threat to others safety fined 3 Pts and £100 (dac was unavailable as I had already had one) Whereas I was caught doing 97 on an empty motorway at 2am in the morning you would think that would incur the heaviest fine. Fined 3pts and £60. Tbh I think the police were lenient on me and I am grateful as The police did wag the finger as they cautioned me for speed exceeds 100 would carry an instant ban. They knew my top speed that night wasn’t what they caught me doing Whilst mine was nearly 150% over the limit on a motorway in the middle of the night it was a lower risk (not excusable by my own admission) but as you are travelling nearly 150% speed limit in a 30 the risks are extremely high to other road users and pedestrians regardless of the time of day. I hope they dont throw the towel at you but be prepared for you have to go to court and depending on circumstances you may be given 6pts and a %age of your weekly salary fined. Good luck Can anyone answer this Question... what if you are out of work because any %of £0 = £0. Is there a minimum fine?
  2. Sorry one of the questions I first should have asked is what is your domain functional level and what os are your dc’s. As a few of us have now said what you are looking to achieve is possible and is simpler if your server are ... now I’m not 100% on this but Item level targeting (ILT) in group policy was introduced with a domain functional level of 2008 r2. Iv seen some network have 2008 and 2012 servers but still running a DFL of 2000 There were a number of improvements also in later versions of server os but these features will not be utilised if you haven’t raised your DFL.
  3. I’m sorry I still fail to see the benefits. Most of the sites I manage now how follow me print setup but the most complicated site I have 2 x print managed service as well as 80 printers dotted around the site (don’t ask it’s been inherited and already I’m looking to consolidate the manage service and reduce the printer to a max of 10 but have these annoying ppl called management standing in my way) however in the interim I use a single GPO with ILT on OUs, security groups, specific users and specific computers and computer groups depending on the printer and never had any issues. Someone wants a printer I either security group assign or most complicated add a line in the ILT of the printer in question The thing with scripting it can get dated very quickly eg. Move a computer etc or a user leaves. Rather then edit the specific line it get added to the bottom of the script. The script get bigger, syntax errors start creeping in and contradicting statements. It all then becomes a minefield to diagnose. Batch scripting was the simpler of scripting languages and still was a nightmare which practically made everyone jump to GPP when it became available. I wouldn’t want to login script printers via powershell or vbs. that would be idea of hell. Another question would be who would managed this script? Something so simple that a first liner could achieve using GPP, your script is bespoke and made it so even a second or third liner would have to depict your script to simply add a printer to a new user or group. But good luck to you if you go on to proceed.
  4. Just set your email with an alias they have on file. Forgot about that.
  5. I think The point was by continuing with the phone call you consented. I think the point of this is if you were verbally abusive over the phone, threatening even where police was involved that situation would warrant the recording being sent to police for evidence before being deleted from the system. Like I said this was many years ago before gdpr and May no longer be relevant with new laws. My contribution to this meeting and the whole process was to later facilitate once the policies and politics had been ironed out
  6. Licensing is a b!tch but unfortunately I agree with all points above and wish I could help you having the install media to hand. I know first hand how difficult it was to recover your account from adobe. I had to register my school email address equal to the registered domain on to adobe volume licensing website. Then spent hours on to various adobe reps getting them to recover my volume license agreements. These were pinned to my newly created adobe account and verified through the email address given. Once done all the download media will be available to you and your license keys
  7. It’s complicated and not sure how relevant it is now but at my last place We were informed (before GDPR mind) that you must state that conversations are being recorded and if the caller were to opt out you should delete the recording immediately unless the caller became abusive and the call were to be used as evidence into legal enquiry. I do believe they still have this if prerecording still in place today but that doesn’t mean it is right under new law I would consult gdpr specialists and/or your dpo Let us know how you get on as I would be interested to know Thanks
  8. Power button operation was set to do nothing when pressed as students found ways or interrupting live on screen tests by pressing the power button. On screen test vendors like Pearson used to stipulate that the computers never sleep as this had also a tendency of interrupting live examination. They then later found they could hold the power down for 5 seconds still. We do what we do to effectively deliver the curriculum and make lives as easy as possible. Sometimes it dirty and not always best practice but we in education have to deal with the assorts of idiotic systems and their users and expect to deliver it yesterday. It frustrating as hell but I agree we are in the future now and someone needs to tell the education sector that.
  9. An addition pre req you need to enable .net 3.5 as well as 4
  10. Have you installed sims workstation pre requisites. Run simsinfrastructuresetup.exe checking sims workstation in the install prompt wizard Check fms workstation also if you plan to deploy fms Then try rerun setup from solus. Otherwise run simsinst.exe manually These can all be found in s:\sims\setups
  11. Yes On all day because stupid users see a blank screen press the power button to find it then shutdown. Group policy task schedule to run cmd at 19:00 every night Shutdown -s -t 600 -c time to go home. Good night No Wol as then the computer are only switched on if they are needed
  12. I had to do the same. Uninstall driver, point to install path . Fixed [emoji106]
  13. I smell [emoji90] got a load of sb580 across several sites running on window 10 ltsc.
  14. I use group policy task schedule to shutdown each night. Leave the users to turn them back on in the morning
  15. Its nice to here positive feedback to be honest and hope they go on to improve. What ever it is going on there, needs addressing quick. I have several schools all using civica and questions from some of them are being asked. Please take note civica if you are watching these threads. I don’t want the extra workload finding and managing a migration.
  16. Yeah I would recommend doing patch to port diagram If it’s a double patch I would have expected spanning tree to take down the port or if you haven’t configure spanning tree it would take down your switch an md eventually your network. Do you have a trunk configured on the switch that may be shared by two devices. Or You are may have two devices plugged in to a shared ports. Commonly the last 2-4 ports are shared with sfp ports One more thing to consider if it is POE check your devices aren’t overloading the switch Your Aruba’s are spec to deliver 370W over the ports. If it is 48 ports that is 7.7w per port average. I have some unifi ac pro which Iv just googled. They draw 9w max. Therefore I can only have up to 41 on this switch Hope it goes well!
  17. Just put it out there have you considered the monitor? Try Replacing the monitor? I have a number of HP monitors with weak / knackered inverters and find that the monitor won’t come on after going to sleep if it has been sleeping for a while. Only turning the computer off and back on again as well as unplugging the monitor holding the power button down for a while whilst plugging the monitor back in to work.
  18. Check for port errors. Should be able to see this through the switch portal in a browser. Does it max out straight away or progressively use it up over time... how long do you know??? I begin by unplug everything but the uplink on the switch, cycle the power, to see if the switch still max out. Watch logs as you plug each port back in Good luck
  19. Why would they record it? Unless it is for training purposes. If they want your data they already have it as most of the time they ask you to back up your database and upload it to them to resolve any issue you raise with them. These are only my opinions I have no evidence or factual basis behind this but I doubt they are doing anything which breaks the law and you will probably find some disclaimer in the contract you sign agreeing that your data could be used for training purposes. If you have genuine concerns then contact an account manager. Can’t get hold of one then? Withhold your payment and they will call you. [emoji106]
  20. Sla clock doesn’t start when you can’t get thru to them to open a ticket. Management probably blindly looking at the high 90% sla taking their bonuses. Unbeknown that 10% of the tickets are actually been logged
  21. I support several schools who all have civica and since moving from NRS their support is beyond appalling. I really don’t know how they function as a company. May be worth looking at other options now because I really cannot see how much longer they will survive with the level of service they are providing. Phone support is frustrating as hell. Typical waiting time 45 mins. Most Iv been prepared to wait before hanging up was 1hr and 20 mins. However On one occasion I choked on my brew when they answered within a minute to my colleague. Dropped my brew on my keyboard and phone. They owe my company an iPhone 8. Email support - Iv logged 3 tickets which 2 took 2 days and the 3rd I have had open from start of December and not had a response. On site support on the other hand is polars apart. Suspect Hardware failure to a reval was out same day (nearly quicker than waiting time on hold) to diagnose and repair. Turned out to be software related which phone support should have resolved. Should have got his number.
  22. Yeah they are all double dashes and I do have an = after deployment file. However I still get exit code 7 Could you redact and email me your syntax you use to compare?
  23. Thanks for you email, You can install logit after cs4 and doesn’t seem to cause issues, it’s just if you try install cs4 after logit. can I still compare your install script as I have done the record method as you suggested however when I cmd line the install ..\setup.exe —mode=silent —deploymentfile ..\install.xml Where the xml is the file generated from the record sequence I receive a exit code 7 which denote silent workflow error Running the same cmd but in full gui mode shows no errors. I do however have to enter the serial code and choose what to install which I didn’t expect to do having specified the deployment file Any advice welcome
  24. Found the software.... Drum roll 🥁 It was a piece of software called LogIT. Not found why yet but evidently it causes issues with cs4 installer Thank you for everyone’s contribution
  25. I am that’s the first one I tried [emoji107]
