  1. FYI Was talking to our papercut provider about upgrading to 19 and they informed me to upgrade direct to 19.0.2 as they found 19.0 had lots and lots of issues
  2. Update... it appears that our parent app issue has been resolved. All marks have been sync’d historic and present. Can anyone that was having the problem confirm whether they still are having problems after updating to summer release. Now what capita have told me what fixed it and my opinion of what has fixed it are somewhat very different. Official capita strapline fix was determined by us uploading our data to capita and they released a “site specific” patch. My opinion based on time frame (broke after Xmas and fixed coincidently after applying summer update) the spring release broke it which was fixed in summer release and in that interim capita was knowingly denying they had problems. Can anyone confirm my theory as we plan to take action for a paid service that has been unusable for the last 4 months. Thanks
  3. Hi Steve, Unless i have misunderstood, Content Modification Policy and Https inspection Policy are configured within separate windows therefore I would expect content mod enforce safesearch policies would be executed if https inspection policies are defined as they are. Is that not the case. are they overlapped somewhere else?
  4. On my smoothwall, i have content mod policies enforcing safesearch and safesearch via connect header (Everyone, everything, everywhere) Https inspection to decrypt and inspect all traffic. just come to realise whilst testing Google, yahoo, bing, etc i can now manually override safesearch setting on all search engines as a restricted user. Can anyone else confirm as i am suspicious i may need to open smoothwall ticket?
  5. I have been asked by Senior Staff whether we would be able to use Ecosia as our search engine (A charity org that plants trees for every search - sound very world changing YAWN sorry), however I have found that restricted users are able to disable the safe search filter and search for all sorts. Our smoothwall enforce safesearch rule does not prevent users from disabling this feature. Evidently this is definitely a no go if students are able to circumnavigate our smoothwall safe search policy. Given that it is for a "good cause" I would like to go back to the senior management with a little more than a straight "no" and also knowing that i have tried my best to facilitate this. TIA
  6. That’s my position at the moment but Iv been here for a while. Didn’t know they were even considering one as years ago I wrote my own for them but decided to pull support on it as I wasn’t sure whether it was GDPR compliant. First I knew was an email the last week saying would I mind sitting in on the Egan Reid meet.
  7. Thank you all for your suggestions, I have plenty of to go with. Our office team have a meet and greet with Egan Reid later this week. (One of their suggestions) Has any one used them? How do they compare?

  10. there does not seem a straight forward way of doing this. a possible way in outlook client but in no way I endorse this method for this situation, as it is likely to cook up more problems than it does good. I'm just suggesting a technical solution to a non technical problem just for sh*ts and giggles. O365 doesn't seem to support this either, so therefore you are left with the client dealing with it which in itself is not a good idea. Better done if there are no other rules as is easier when exporting and importing rules later Create a rule in outlook Applying the rule to all messages sent CONDITION - NONE click next and confirm the warning (even outlook thinks its a bad idea LOL) ACTION - Defer delivery by minutes (### minutes) EXCEPT - if marked with importance (HIGH) go to manage rules and click options export rules distribute the rule to all users to then import themselves or go around doing it yourself. you could powershell this possibly. Although there is a technical solution for pretty much every non technical problem, it does not mean it has to be implemented or is even a good idea to implement it. Even a delay of 1 minute could cause problems if eg a user clicks send and logs off within that one minute. the outlook client will not be running to send it therefore email will not send until the user next logs on to a computer or specifically that computer (if you don't use roaming profiles). I have had this before where the user has clicked send and logged off quicker than the outlook client could handle the email. If you do implement something like this make sure you get it in writing from a senior member including as many problems this will cause and suggest an alternative non technical solution of user training.
  11. Yeah but I am trying to drag this school into the 21st century. 🤪
  12. Can you not still recall emails? I know this feature in the past highlighted the f up more than it hid it and not exactly what you want but it’s worth educating staff about if it’s still available. I assume you have been asked to implement this because someone Cok’d up. With all due respect as others have mentioned you shouldnt modify the integrity of your network for the 1% of users that are not doing their jobs efficiently. Even if it were possible I wouldn’t do it out of principle for some of the reasons mentioned by fellow edugeeks. With all due respect I understand your position is between a rock and a hard place, Iv been there too but you will get the blame no matter what. It’s which battle you want to choose... Your fault that the user did not spend 5 extra seconds checking the recipients box or your fault that you implemented a delay that could cost someone their life (I know extreme case) Educating the staff on the importance of safeguarding and general email etiquette thrown in also eg Include a subject with you email is the way forward. I honestly have to resist blocking my offending users for this abomination, one being the HT.
  13. Steak (filler as cant post less than six characters)
  14. Title is self explanatory so... on your marks, get set, GO.
  15. Yes exactly that, where a staff code doesn’t match a staff code in sims
  16. last weeks attendance partly filling up, and think the marks are slowly filling up over the 3 months it’s not being working. today’s attendance fully sync’d
  17. UPDATE - well following a number of conversations with capita, it was suggested that there maybe an issue with the timetable within sims and they wanted a copy of our database and I was advised to speak to the person responsible with timetabling documenting changes that have been made since it was noticed that lesson marks were missing. Following a discussion with said staff member. It came to light that he had entered an unlinked member of staff in NT6 for reasons that were justified. When we removed the unlinked staff member and waited a few days I notice a positive impact with most of the marks(not all) returning back to the App. I have put the call with capita on hold for a week to monitor the situation and then reassess the marks which are still missing eliminating the ones where the registers weren’t even taken. The lad I was speaking to wasn’t sure whether past marks would ever return and to monitor all future marks as an indication of whether the sims timetable was at fault. I will keep you updated as this progresses but for those who are still having trouble try and pin down roughly when you noticed marks missing and speak to your timetable person. Not saying your situation is similar to mine and it will likely be different on every site but capita 3rd line are focused on it being a timetabling errors.
  18. UPDATE - Looks like we got their attention. Just got off the phone and I have a remote session booked in either today or tomorrow with the 3rd line team and Capita line management. I will update again as this progresses.
  19. I am setup in the same way as bob suggests The only difference is I asked the parents permission to become a named contact for support purposes to which they agreed.
  20. We have all our synced before xmas going back but only seems symptomatic since we returned in January. That's sounds a very familiar quote. I would say they were yanking my chain. They were using the teacher app update to fob me off. Logs show the teacher app was updated but not the parent app. Yeah my "adopted" kids are the same. oddly this screen print shows marks being recorded (same screen shot of last week) not all I would like to add also but I guarantee this will disappear before tomorrow Also this weeks have recorded also If everyone logs a ticket it may light that spark that may make them resolve the issue
