Good Evening Community This year one of my school trusts have gone arbor from sims and they have recently informed me that they have chosen not to go with Salamander from teams classes sync etc last year i manually did the sds upload for them from sims which is relatively straight forward. Arbor on the other hand is a different breed and i cant seem to find any manual methods of doing an sds upload. Has anyone experienced doing such and if so Does anyone have any written notes i can use. Thanks

One of my schools have decided to want to deliver Functional Skills ICT using Pearson POP LAN. I am proud My School is fully serverless environment Managed in INtune and thats where the problem lies. Pearson POP LAN is a server client installation and does not suit the environment. Whilst i could fudge it and install the server side on a client machine. i feel this is step back in the collective hard work. Does anyone deliver functional skills in a serverless environment. Can you recommend a solution that would suit my ideal requirements TIA

For things like ap and what we done for interactive tvs is option 3 however I would either - if your on a flat network then yes you could do it that way. - alternative create a location with all the ip addressses of the aps and create a https inspection rule for the location created set not do not inspect. This way you can tie down the filtering on the location also to only access certain sites related to the ap (interactive tv etc) - another option is to Vlan the ap on to their own ip range. You can create a location that includes that range then create an inspection rule do not inspect and I filtering rule

Reprocessing of licenses failed for all users
dapaulio replied to kennysarmy's topic in Cloud Services
You know you have to renew them don’t you? A1 for student and faculty although free doesn’t include use of apps. Only online The apps for students and faculty is a premium renewable bolted on top of the a1 Now I see you have A3? This typical includes apps and works out that for every 1 faculty license you get (I think) 40 student licenses. Therefore your focus should be moving all faculty and students over to a3 licensing then a1 and apps license will be redundant -
Hi all. For various reasons we are looking to reduce the size of the database which mainly stemmed from data retention. We have done the usual suspects, archive attendance marks, orphaned contacts ya da yada however this is not really making much impact. Calculating the tables sizes in sql it points to in touch messages (sims.itc.messages_out) holding 30gb over 15 years of tables rows. Our sims support say there are a number of patches ranging from 1-5 years an an intouch purge patch from ess that can be applied however they just advise that this is highly destructive and not really answering the questions we are asking. We have been advised that data has to be retained Upto the students 25th birthday. Longer in certain circumstances. We have messages linked to the student record. Are the in touch messages that are linked to the students included in this? How does the destructive patch know what to delete and what not to delete especially as the the longest patch retention is 5 years (shorter than the requirements of students 25th bday) If we purge the intouch table does the patch unlink the linked students messages or are these stored /copied to another table within the database? Thanks

Have you got the sites listed in authentication exception policy or category group? This practically bypass all rules. -
Edit sorry I missed one of your posts that included you had assigned the user to the policy. Another suggestion would be to clone the policy and assign that instead. I have seen policies not apply especially if they were from the stock policies. I know it can be done as we have done it for all our schools

I agree with comments above as it may be a habitual issue You will find people wfh more on a Friday so you may suffer with increase traffic if you are on a contended connection. Equally you may find your internal network has more throughput of internet traffic as well as your vpn maybe busier on Fridays Running some speed test and diagnostic test on either side of the vpn maybe busier hold the answer

I disable auto updates as allowing them to update can update major versions then you you get numerous different versions across your network and if you have redirected start menu can cause an issue with broken links I look to push out major release via sccm first removing all versions. Either through application deployment or osd

Now that is grim. I’d probably just buy a new one. One thing you could try is kids play slime. It has that gluey sort of consistency the right viscosity not to seep in to the mechanisms of the keyboard.

What WiFi have you got? What filtering is in place? Chromebooks up to date? I have a school which I inherited of chromebooks thru Smoothwall originally on unifi which didn’t play that well due to most ap were in fault condition. Replaced with a meraki system and although better I had to update my Chromebooks and the Smoothwall including its policies for it to work properly

Iv noticed ours to report the same over the last year. Can’t remember when I started noticing it but never caused us any problems with upgrades or operations

How much RAM do you allocate your servers?
dapaulio replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Hosts tend to cram in as much as it is compatible for. Role based VMware server setup. generally 4gb upwards depending on role and importance and how much ram in the host to utilise roughly 50% - 60% of the total host memory. For failover purposes Think the most one server has is either our sccm or sims server which have anywhere from 32gb to 52gb depending on the size of the school Dynamic memory turned off -
Runs an accounts user group list report in papercut

I’m happy to help where I can In the endgame would you look to publish it to a good cloud server. As another pet peeve as both a parent and tech are companies who use cheap cloud servers to host that spend more time down

I see where your going with this and it beginning to take shape. I tried it on my mobile iOS is safari and the site was fast and intuitive. As a parent of two kids in primary the issues we have with our current school provider is. Each meal time slot is credit individually rather than a central pot. Eg we have to credit lunch time separately to eg after school club and I can’t see the point. Maybe if the kids were ordering their own meals I can understand as parent will not want their child dipping in to meals pot when your crediting the trips pot in installments. But I can’t see primary kids doing this as the choice is down to the parent to decide. Secondary yes primary no I like that you can select the same meal for every day in one screen, However this may work with sandwiches in some schools but not main courses. Primary schools especially have a set meal plan so the kids have something different everyday. The choices are straight forward normally a vegi and non vegi hot meal or a sandwich again vegi or non vegi option. Each day will follow a two or three week menu. A suggestion for the school login. Is the ability to edit and publish a set menu that links to the calendar in the parent view. I see this working with what you already have. Secondaries now tend to be luke a cafe style you choose what you want. They still have a set menu rotating weekly of hot mains but there is a lot more choice. Your system for secondaries school interface may have to be completely different interface to your primary school interface Great work

Just a word of warning over some cheaper adapters from the likes of Amazon etc. We moved two schools to docks and laptops and the adapters were causing graphic sync issues causing the displays to flicker on and off. Removed the adapter out of the dock and fixed it completely. Dock firmware update and display link driver did lessen the symptoms but would still become symptomatic.

Iv installed numerous brands and i stand by install Prometheums. they are the best fit for the school environment over all other brands imo and depending on quantity the price isn’t really that far out as you would think or expect

New fresh install of v23 runs fine here. Came inline with uplifting print server. Never been much of a fan implace upgrading servers and always spun up a new vm.
