  1. Some progress. Last night I deployed windows 10 with core apps only and bingo cs4 installed These include Adobe reader Chrome Silver light Office 2016 Laps Java 8 Papercut client Vlc So... One of my curriculum apps is breaking things I’m going to be working through each one individually but value anyone’s opinion on which the culprit is. Any friendly wagers. Place your bets now
  2. No don’t think it is filtering related. I am steering towards an obscure prequisite software or conflicting software. I found today to my surprise that it installed on a computer on our network fine on an old imaged machine. In stead of flashing the eula screen it presented correctly ready to put the license key in. If I reimagined the machine and tried installing cs4 the symptoms previously described present themselves. I have looked at program and features and there are only a few differences in software. The ones I have added I have temporarily disabled in sccm ts (didn’t make a difference) Core software has been updated which what make me now suspect something missing or some other software conflicting causing the symptoms but not yet found difference. Any takers?
  3. No but I’m having issues with installing cs4 using the examples you have given. Maybe you can help I have just posted. And will copy a link here shortly. Could you pm me you old installer script. Ours also used to work but since stopped working sometime and found that installing it manually has stopped working also. TIA Edit Annoying adobe Cs4 installation /showthread.php?t=212667
  4. Hi all I have had for a while a truly annoying issue where whilst trying to install adobe cs4 it begins with a progress meter checking system requirements. It gets to about 90%, and the the eula agreement and the where you would enter the product code window briefly appears then disappears. This leaves the progress meter hanging at 90% until you taskkill it. Despite not installing, it does put an entry in programs and features which you are unable to uninstall nor does the cs4 cleanup toolkit detect any installation of cs4. Has anyone come across anything like this. I been working on this since just before Xmas and it bugging me now. Thanks in advance
  5. With a bit of digging a found some information which jogged my memory I used TLS port 587. With a bit of reverse diagnosing I found this page which may help. Only some of it is relevant. You would probably disable start tls encryption also Is it a hybrid or full office 365? https://www.fmsinc.com/MicrosoftAccess/Email/smtp/index.htm
  6. I’m sure I resolved this for a school a no longer have any affiliation with. they used fms and remember thinking it wasn’t straight forward. if memory serves me I think you need to use another port. To complicate matters my initial thought is port 443 however I have a niggle in my head that it wasn’t that obvious and another port was used but right now I may be thinking of and confusing myself with another software Food for thought and if I suddenly have a brain wave I’ll be sure to post. I still have contact in the finance dept at my previous school so may check in see how they are.
  7. I would try the fast link configuration first, there is no harm in doing so.. less evasive and less likely to cause you disruption network wide. Tbh my experience and knowledge of Cisco switch programming is little but my understanding Whilst still it is set statically the port on Cisco still takes roughly 10 secs to properly come live if spanning tree is enabled. I assume you don’t have any issues with any other vlan being passed through to the same edge? It’s like the tagged vlan being pushed through to the edge switch is dropping off maybe being being blocked which sounds very much like a spanning tree issue however I don’t think spamming tree locking down a specific vlan on a port but My understanding is This would normally shut the port completely off) Is your edge Cisco also? Bringing back to possibly faulty vlan creation on the core presumably (and/or) the edge switch its passing the vlan too. In which this will hopefully resolve itself when you put your new switch in.
  8. What switch is it? Do you mean you are rebooting the switch the printer is connected to, or you have to cycle the power on the core switch despite the printer being connected to another switch. My guess is the vlan May have been misconfigured and corrected in the past which kinda corrupts the vlan causing odd symptoms like you describe. Deleting and recreating the vlan normally resolves issues like this. Be warned to note all the vlan tagged and untagged ports before deleting the vlan My other guess would be if it is a Cisco switch there is a cmd line to configure the port to fastlink. Cant recall the cmds exactly Hope this helps
  9. A couple suggestions that I hope helps Log in to admin portal - Exchange - public folders. You could see whether it is a public folder and click on its properties. Alternatively link the o365 account in to outlook then look at the permissions under properties of the calendar Another is use powershell Get-MailboxFolderPermission
  10. Wild stab in the dark, but could you backup your chats thru the web on a computer.
  11. I think I need to explain and looking to poll your ideas and responses. The school haven’t got a google tenancy. don’t know why to be honest but I’ll broach that topic when I get more time. The school have loads of tv screens dotted around for the sole purpose of digital signage which have one of xibo or PowerPoint running from a most compute stick or chrome cast device etc I want to somewhat automate and consolidate this solution so that ICT pretty much have zero input after the fact with all the content thereafter managed by the staff. It want it to be effectively zero cost so looked into google slides. Google slides looks as though it will work with revolver tabs extension refreshingevery day to update content modified throughout the day. I will manage all slideshows from one gmail account and share the tv slideshow to the staff member responsible to modify the content. From my finding to effectively deliver this free solution which ticks a box in their eyes has some caveats which I feel they need to understand before I implement the solution across somewhat 30 tv. Once the slideshow is published it becomes public (unless I’m missing something) therefore anyone can view the slideshow if they were to know/guess the long 80 odd character url. The slides I’m concerned may include personal information and photos of children. My concern as little a chance of someone out side the organisation managing to view the slides it is possible and feel they should understand that slight risk. I’m looking for positive ways to spin it without the school clamming up straight away I’m open to suggestions also as I said I’m new to google. I want to explore free solutions where the teachers are capable of managing the content easily before exploring paid for solutions Hope this makes more sense TIA
  12. I have always built xibo installs for anyone who has asked but this requires a bit of a technical understanding even just to update content. I have been looking into google slides where the content is shared with responsible staff to keep updated but... I am a Newbie to google suite, so How do you go about maintaining security to the slideshow. my understanding with google slides shows that if you want to enable auto loop and advance slide for the purpose of eg digital signage you have to publish to the web, effectively making the slide show public. I can see the issues of the slide show must comply with GDPR rules, photographs of children, name are abbreviated etc granted the slide shows url are complicated making it more security by obscurity but surely this would not be enough. am I missing something where google have this covered somewhere that I have not seen Thanks
  13. I did but 2 years passing my memory is not what it used to be 🤪.... You know what I really can’t remember how I resolved it. I may have decommissioned the server and spun up another dc Edit... it looks like I did decommission it because I no longer have a dc04 and now have a dc05 on server 2016 Hope it helps
  14. Popped my Linux cherry installing xibo and nagios It has been a while since I’ve installed xibo so not sure if it more difficult now Literally it was for me install Ubuntu Then single one line Sudo get cmd from xibo repository. Log on to the web front end
  15. I would personally export the vhd, delete the Vm and cloud store it. Financial records need to be kept for 7 years. In the unlikely event you need to restore just create the vm and attached the vhd.
  16. I spun up a vm using Ubuntu. Instructions are relatively straight forward even for a Novice Linux user
  17. Yes I agree but I find with plumbers who attend rented properties they fob you off with the basic solution which they are then paid for by the call out by the landlord/agency. Plus when you deal with an agency you don’t tending to speak to the trader direct therefore you trust the agency to relay the problem accurately. I wanted a basic understanding of how my hot water system works allowing me to talk nearer on the same level as the plumber. Since my last post I have spoken to my agency and also spoken to the plumber direct and he is due out in the next day or so Watch this space Thanks
  18. That’s the problem and reason I have come to ask my fellow geeks. I have had several plumbers out. Thankfully I live in private rented so to no expense. Shower has been replaced, boiler has been replaced, the 2 pumps have been replaced. Every plumber to have tinkered with it has left it in a worse state, it seems.
  19. There is one pipe that is cold and assume this in mains fed.
  20. There are pipes at the top and bottom of the tank all but one is red hot so by assumption if pipes at bottom and top are red hot then the water at that level is also The pumps are for the hw and ch. turn the water on and one pump kicks in. Turn the ch on and the other pump kicks in.
  21. Actually i think it all taps. It not really noticeable on any of the other taps as you don’t run off as much water as say the bath and the shower. But leaving taps open for a while starts hot then like the bath and shower loses its heat
  22. O I also removed the white box facia that was attached to the boiler and you were right, it is a thermostat. And it is set to 90 degrees
  23. No it hot hot to begin with. Took me by surprise but within a minute of having hot hot water it began coming through as Luke warm
  24. Update to the symptoms. I don’t think I have done anything different other than have the hot water on 24 hours a day for a few days. I had a shower this morning and the shower ran really hot for a minute. I thought brilliant hot shower then realised spoke too soon as it when Luke warm again for the remainder. After asking my wife she said her shower did the same. Now I don’t think it is the shower as we also have like warm baths and two we have had a new shower installed in the last few months which I wasn’t too pleased about as it seemed the new shower although identical replacement did no longer felt as powerful as the original. it was replaced due to a failing thermostatic valve. Which I’m now beginning to think that the shower wasn’t the original problem. Can you see why I’m frustrated. Opinions & advice welcome Thanks again
