  1. I too have tickets open for many weeks but I think we can all, especially in ICT support show some sympathy. It’s the same everywhere. I’m a lone onsite support doing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line and I can’t close my jobs off quick enough. I have to focus my day to day doing physical work 1st and 2nd line tasks. Then when I’m at home (not paid I may add- stupid I know) I am doing a lot of 1st line and 2nd remote work to keep my head above water and generally keep the Agro off my back from all staff including management. Management are the reason I am operating like this as they made my junior tech redundant in a cost cutting exercise. I am beginning to get to the end of my tether and most likely will do what Bertie did and move away. Don’t blame the players, chew management ears rather than the lads on support. If enough people complain directly to management they will be forced to at least listen
  2. Lol [emoji23] it would seem teamviewer has accepted my personal verification. Although I haven’t had a response, I am able to connect and hasnt kicked me off. It has been a nice debate and @TechMonkey I have taken your points on board as you have some valid points I had overlooked initially, prompting me to check that they are in fact ok with my dev server being on site. Thanks all
  3. To a fashion yes. Everything is above board. It was old server that has been stricken off the register, and is known I’m using it for personal development. It is connected to a router acting as backup internet line, not touching the infrastructure. As far as my network is concerned it can’t see it and it is not even physically connected to it. No different technically than connecting it to my home router. I don’t fancy having a server screaming away in my front room 🤫 I get both sides of the argument but would have thought circumstances would enable me to further educate myself.
  4. Noted I thought that also but then could you argue that all personal use is to some degree for financial / business gain if you think exactly for what purpose you are using teamviewer in the first place Eg I install it on my mum and dads computer or my friends computer. Next time I see them I get fed or pint bought for me. I have made a profitable gain... Where’s the line get drawn? Yes what ever I am playing with may then get incorporated in to business but at this point it is simply playing, breaking and fixing
  5. O FYI update... no response from teamviewer to my verification. Not looking to hopeful [emoji848]
  6. Chances are yeah. They already mention they classify server os as commercial. It Most likely on anything that differentiate a server to a domestic device If it were a vm running W7 then they may look at processor type also.
  7. Thanks with your help i had a light bulb moment when you mentioned cluster. I looked at the cluster and I don’t know what specifically fixed it as I removed the cluster notes on the vm, (vaguely recall this being the culprit for some anomalies a few years back) then deleted the servers out of the protection group, refreshed the cluster discovery within dpm then added the server again. I then noticed that it duplicated each server in the protection group. On initial creation one of each duplicated succeeded and the other failed. Removed the two that failed and left the two that were successful. Forced a recovery point and looks positive this time. I will find out after this weekend when the schedule goes through whether it has worked. Thanks again for your help
  8. The VSS application writer or the VSS provider is in a bad state. Either it was already in a bad state or it entered a bad state during the current operation. (ID 30111 Details: VssError:The specified object was not found. (0x80042308)) Hi All, This has been bugging me. I have 2 servers that show this error when they backup. if I remove them from the protection group and add them again they data is transferred and show successful, however every subsequent backup then fails "replica inconsistent" and every attempt at a retry shows the above error with 0mb transferred. VSS writers all show stable, dependent services are in a started state I have several 2012r2 servers in the same protection group that don't fail, just these 2 in particular. to the best of my knowledge nothing has changed with the server or dpm. I feel like it is staring me in the face Any suggestions?
  9. II like the idea of this. Think of all the fun you could have with it. Stick a raspberry Pi on it with the correct coding and you could have one hell of a disco Beyond the novelty of it I can’t see an economical use for this in all fairness. I applaud unifi but I would like to see them consolidating all their systems in to one console rather than have a separate console for each line of product. A simple solution to that in my opinion would have a master console that moves to each individual console.
  10. Sounds interesting but I can seem to subscribe as the feed is down
  11. After some digging. I found this page https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/Why-do-I-see-TeamViewer-trial-Your-trial-period-has-expired/ta-p/5267 which explains that a server OS automatically qualifies the installation as commercial regardless of what you choose on installation. The page also explains that you can register with a good enough reason using their personal use verification. https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/personal-use-verification/?_ga=2.120562190.70282782.1540124955-1486417671.1491848098 However the community have expressed disgust at TV inability to respond at all let alone positively to these requests as one person commented that the support rep basically said they do not support free users, there is nothing they can do. I have registered my request so fingers crossed a positive response.
  12. You can disable the TCPIP pipe off in SQL configuration manager essentially putting the database in exclusive standalone mode. you can access it from the server but not from any network computer. after the reindex enable it again and your users will be able to log in.
  13. I have tried contacting them but anyone who I have spoken to already have been less than helpful
  14. Looking for any thoughts on this topic I have a teamviewer installation on my development/skills box which I use solely for developing my skills. This is not a production server although I am using ees licensing, it is connected to a business broadband line and is housed on a business site. It is a single tin server with HV role and teamviewer installed. I receive notification that it detects commercial use where in my opinion it is not.i see why teamviewer may think it’s commercial but not sure how I would go about fixing it without paying for it. I’m not looking to defraud teamviewer, just imo this box is for my own personal experience and up skilling hence using a personal license What is everyone else opinion? Do you agree? Anyone any word of wisdom alternative remote solution that preferably is free TIA
  15. For speedy fix and short term You could create a batch file along with the certificate containing the following code on a couple usb pen drives. And hand them to your guests certutil -addstore "Root" %~dp0\cacert.cer Long term fix you could create the msi as suggested above. I too will be looking in to this as this will help in my environment. Thanks
  16. We did have a journal that held all emails for the current year, then PST off for a further many years (until a come to housekeep them tbh ) but I ended up disabling a few months ago it due to space issues. Typical really for years I have never had to consult the journal and within months of disabling bang it would have been helpful in this scenario. There is a bigger plan in the pipe to move into o365.
  17. On a Network share. I had considered that. The user has an application called Egress installed which has a similar coloured symbol but not the same. Coincidence??? If I disable egress the icon remains.
  18. Does anyone know what this symbol means on the excel icon. I suspect it is causing me a problem whilst attempting a mailmerge function. the symbol seems to disappear when I open the document but returns when I close it.
  19. Worked it out. It turned out my last ps cmd Restore-mailbox -identity name -recoverydatabase rdb1 -recoverymailbox mailbox The variables mailbox and name was expecting display names rather than what I was using which was the samaccount name

  21. Environment On prem Exchange 2010 in hybrid mode Mailboxes protected by daily backup to dpm 2012r2 Scenario Investigation in to emails sent between 2 students where they have both deleted the email and deleted it from the deleted items. Unfortunately the retention policy we had has now removed it from the recover deleted items deleted items... 🤪 hope you are still following What I have done so far Created a recovery user with a mailbox called recovereduser Created and mounted a new recovery database in exchange New-mailboxdatabase -recovery -name ... -edbfilepath ... blah blah. DONE Recovered the dpm protected mailbox to recovery dB on exchange.... recovery was successful Ran powershell to restore mailbox to the recovereduser... problem occurred My Problem The mailbox does not exist in the recoverydb. Why??? I can see that the database is somewhat equivalent in size to the database I was recovering If I run get-mailbox -database recoverydb No mailboxes are found in the database Any help would be appreciated
  22. I know it’s not our responsibility but I am guessing a will get at least one parent bring this up. Anyone drafted an official response if it were to arise?

  24. Are you running simsload.exe or pulsar.exe. Pulsar just opens sims and should display the logon screen almost immediately whereas simskoad does a whole host of crazy things like looking up all your sims related exes are up to date. Not really necessaryif your SOlus 3 managing your updates.
  25. Think @munozjohn is a bit confused. Img is not a filetype, it is a folder created in wds install structure. In here I suspect you would want to upload your iso/wim files
